Re: Bill B Presents TMC's Pick the Position Poll
We are leading the league in penalties, I wouldn't say we are very good at anything. Not giving up sacks has to be attributed to the brunell snap and release style of offense all season.

Re: Bill B Presents TMC's Pick the Position Poll
How does Jansen fit into next years o-line?
I've heard some very negative things regarding his play, and from some of the film I've seen, he doesn't have the kind of push that he used too. Thoughts?

Re: Bill B Presents TMC's Pick the Position Poll
A few weeks ago I was thinking that we should replace Dockery but lately I've been watching him more and he's actually having a very good season. I'd like to see us re-sign him and keep the starting 5 in place for a few more seasons.

Re: Bill B Presents TMC's Pick the Position Poll
Jansen is nursing a calf injury that basically keeps him out of practice most of each week. It's probably more serious than we know. Get him healthy and he's still a very good RT.

Re: Bill B Presents TMC's Pick the Position Poll
In our defensive system, we don't want DEs who are purely pass rushers. Guys like KGB or Derrick Burgess are not what Gregg Williams wants. It's more important that they play the run well; if they can rush the passer on top of it, then that's gravy.
Grilliams likes to stop the run on first down and force teams into 2nd & longs & 3rd & longs. Then with a stud secondary to limit QB's options, he can feel free to blitz LBs all day long. His system means the following: Priority 1: Shut-down secondary (that's intimidating and hard hitting in run support). Priority 2: Run-stopping D-Line. Priority 3: Flexibility at the LB position (they should be able to drop into coverage, tackle well, and blitz their ass off). Conclusions: Wynn, Daniels, and Carter are good ends for our system, especially with Carter coming on as of late. Daniels is stout against the run, but he's not fully healthy right now. We don't want a DE. We are in desperate need of a CB to help shut down WRs. Springs is old, Rogers does not look like a budding #1 at this point, and Kenny Wright is old and marginal. We are also in desperate need of a SS. Adam Archuleta was a dismal failure and he's never going to be good enough in coverage. He's only useful in spot blitz duty. We must admit that we need to address SS badly. The SS must cover well, communicate well with Taylor, and hit like a ton of bricks. We need a DT pretty bad. Griffin is still stout, but Golston is undersized. Golston makes quick pass-rushing moves, but does not clog the middle well enough. We could use an upgrade at LB, but it's not the biggest priority. My simple answer is CB.

Re: Bill B Presents TMC's Pick the Position Poll
I still think we need more production out of the unit. Dockery may not be back anyway, but we have a lot of money wrapped up in the other 4, and although I think that Rabach is the main culprit, Dockery is the most easily replacable. When I answered the poll question, I was talking about getting a really good player in there, not some serviceable guard.

People are giving too much credit to Ladell Betts. He is nothing more than an average RB. He doesn't have blazing speed, doesn't have crazy elusiveness. He hits holes really hard and decisively. Lately, the holes have been the size of the Grand Canyon. The running game credit should go more to the line than to Betts, IMO.

Why is Greg Williams not taking more heat for letting Ryan Clark and Walt Harris go? AA was a total bust and now we're back to square one. I still really think Springs is our best corner all around. Did anyone see the way he shut down Steve Smith??? The only TD was the most lucky throw and catch I've ever seen. Not sure what the heck is up with Rogers hands. If you all remember he dropped a sure INT against the Seahawks in the playoffs last year that may have put them away for good. What happened to that D who knocked Alexander unconscious and beat the crap out the the Seahawks??????? |

I think Docks value is underestimated on this line. He's not spectacular, but he's a good lineman. Trust me, he could walk and get some money in the league. I'd be very surprised if we didn't lock him up real soon. |

The learning curve is steeper at corner for new comers in the NFL. Which begs to question, if we go after a seasoned corner in FA, how much younger will he be than Springs? |
