Beat Minn and Dallas, get two losses from the Saints, an additional loss from the Vikings, and another loss from both the Cards and the Lions

Or, we can kick your ass with our backup QB, watch you guys implode over the final two weeks, and miss the playoffs.

That should be entertaining.

Re: Is Anyone Else Getting That '05 Season Vibe?

Gotta like our chances, even w/TC at the healm for his 1st start this century. Look at what's in our favor:

G-men: we face them after a 10 day break between games, almost a bye week.

Vikes: They play next monday night v.Bears, so they have a short week before we come to town.

cowpokes: Since they squeezed by Detroit, they really would have to blow it not to have home field locked by Dec. 30 when they come to fedex (it would be sweetest if we got in the playoffs & knocked them out of home field, but they'd have to lose 2 of 3 & GB win out for that to happen).

No i don't get the 05 vibe. Two reasons:

We can't run the ball...at all.

Our D is pretty good but not 05 dominant.

That being said...who knows..gotta play em out. We do have Todd Collins though.

i do only problem is we had portis healthy and running hard, a quarteback we believed in and sean taylor..so minus a running game a injured starting qb and no ST you tell me how excited we should be

Re: Is Anyone Else Getting That '05 Season Vibe?

I've debated even replying in this thread for the sheer fact that there is a huge mountain in front of the Redskins right now.

Between injuries, Sean Taylor, lost run game, and lack of execution, it's really hard to get the 2005 vibe, especially after losing to the Bills. That was the 5th time this year the Skins found a way to lose after having the lead going into the 4th.

And while the Skins are not mathematically eliminated yet, but it's hard to see exactly how things will turn out when they play what will most likely be the 1, 5 and 6 seeds in the playoffs.

Granted, they have a bit of momentum going now after beating the Bears, but I just cannot see it carrying the Redskins into the playoffs.

For shits and giggles, let's say they do win out and make it as the 6 seed by virtue of Vikings and Saints collapses. Their first round opponent: Seattle. A Seattle team who are 6-1 at home so far, have won 5 straight, and have a fairly easy 3 game schedule (at Carolina, Baltimore, and at Atlanta) going into the postseason. So now, you've got the Skins facing 4 opponents in a row over .500. At some point, the season will catch up to the Redskins...

Exactly. Even if we somehow make the playoffs, which I highly doubt we will, we are looking at playing Seattle at Seattle. Does anyone honestly think that we can go up to NY and beat the Giants and then turn around and beat Minn. at Minn? C'mon. It's not going to happen.

Sure, why not?

It's not like the Giants and Vikings are head and shoulders above the Skins. Both games should be pretty evenly matched.

I could see the Skins losing both, and I could see them winning both just as easy.

No the Giants and Minn are not head and shoulders above us. But looking how we have lost games this year, I just don't see us winning back to back road games. Nothing I've seen this season gives me confidence we can win those games. Looking back, blowing leads to Buff, NYG and Philly are really going to come back and get us in the end.

Seattle are scrubs the only reason they make the playoffs every year is b/c they are in the sorriest divison in the NFL. St. Louis, Arizona & San Fran c'mon they aren't that tough at all. Minn we are tough against the run we have been as high as 5 against the run. Without ST b/c he really was playing centerfield for us. Our linebacker core is serious. NY is our only concern to me but they are on one week off the next you never know.

Well Arizona almost, and very easily could have beaten us w/ a 1 armed QB. I'm not saying Seattle is great but they are good and I highly doubt we could go into Seattle and win a playoff game.

Re: Is Anyone Else Getting That '05 Season Vibe?

Vikings (vs. Bears, Redskins, Broncos)

I can see the Vikings losing 1-2 games there. They may have won 4 in a row, but you gotta understand that the fire dies out sometime. The Bears may be another win...but the Redskins and Broncos (despite their record) are going to be tough to beat. If these teams can stop the run like the 49ers did when they stopped Adrian Peterson. I think they can win against the Vikings.

Saints (vs. Cardinals, Eagles, Bears)

If you look at the Saints schedule, they are going to be challenged...especially against the Cardinals and Eagles. The Cardinals have a good chance in beating the Saints because the Cardinals are desperate right now. I feel they will outplay the Saints and beat them by a field goal. The Eagles are tough while hanging in there against the Patriots and losing by a field goal against the Giants. The Eagles can beat the Saints on a good day.

Redskins (vs. Giants, Vikings, Cowboys)

The Giants are in a similar situation like the Redskins. The Giants win games at the end. They close games when they are close. I can see the Redskins getting a win right now over the Giants because the Redskins want it more. The most difficult game is the Vikings at their home. This game will determine who will actually get the last wild card. The best of all, this game will be on prime time. The Cowboys game will be a win because they will drop their starters to keep them healthy for the post season.

Re: Is Anyone Else Getting That '05 Season Vibe?

No, I don;t have that '05 vibe, mainly because we don't control our destiny; we need the Saints to lose. Of course, we play the toughest schedule of the contenders, too.

If we can get on top of New York and Minnesota early and put them away instead of protecting the lead, it could make for an interesting last weekend against the Cowboys.

Re: Is Anyone Else Getting That '05 Season Vibe?

Until they prove to me that they can go up to the Meadowlands and get a win, no, I don't have the '05 vibe. How many times have we seen them go up to NY for a big game and come out completely deflated? Something happens to the Redskins up there -- it's like the Bermuda Triangle.

Too many things have to fall into place, too many injuries, no running game, no step up performances from our top two wideouts, Stephon Heyer vs. Michael Strahan, ... ugh.

Like someone esle said earlier, the earlier losses will catch up to this team.

But, a win vs the Giants will change my opinion big time.

I'm with Beems, a win in NY and I'll be very optimistic about the last 2 games.
