I agree the staff should have been more in the know about what was going on. At the same time, remember Gibbs stunned them all (Snyder included) when he resigned, so no one was really prepared for all this. Though they probably should have been.

As for the rest I think you're presuming a lot and ignoring a lot, I suppose to satisfy your own desire to be upset. For one thing, since when are Schwartz, Meeks, and possibly Spagnuolo retread coaches? Since when is Zorn?

For someone who likes to accuse others of being presumptive, you sure seem to have made a lot of assumptions about why I'm upset. "To satisfy my own desire to be upset?" WTF. You can read my posts back from whenever, I've been consistent since the day Gibbs resigned about my concerns and they aren't some arbitrary set of excuses that I've concocted so I have an excuse to bitch. You're way off base here.

We both know I'm not talking about the coaches you mentioned. Obviously they are not "retreads", again, if you read what I wrote, what I said was that what Snyder and Cerrato are doing now is eerily similar to what they were doing before Joe came along. I guess if you want to ignore Fassel, Mora, and Cowher, then you're right, I'm totally manipulating facts so I can be angry, and Snyder has just been being thorough.

I think you're right that most fans are fairly fickle and will forgive a lot if the team starts winning. I won't be one of them, though. I was really happy with the team's growth the past 4 years and truly thought Snyder had changed. I was wrong.

For my money, the events of the past month and especially how the last week or so has gone down has really helped me understand why Joe must have wanted to leave. Compare the venom that's coming out of Redskins Park with the words Joe speaks on his weekly video broadcast and it's just night and day.

It sucks to have your loyalty to your team tested by something like this. Know I understand how Raiders, Knicks, and Orioles fans feel. And I don't like it.

So if you don't want the team to win does that mean your jumping ship to another team or does it mean you will put on your skins jersey on Sundays and cheer for the other team?

It's not that I don't want the team to win. It's that I really, really don't think Snyder deserves any success. I hate the idea that our players could work hard and earn a victory and Snyder's rewarded for what I view as bad management decisions.

Like a few others here, I'm conflicted and really don't know the best way to deal with it :/

I wouldn't expect GW to be given Gibbs-like authority, but, a head coach should be able to assemble his own staff. DS and VC have removed that option for any new HC willing to accept the Skins job. This is a shot across the bow of any incoming head man. The message is clear, DS and VC will dabble and play as if professional sports team management is a board game.

I mean really, Vinny as Executive VP?! He brought in Trung Canidate for crying out lound. The Times is reporting one NFL executive actually laughed when told VC would be The Guy.

Now, what decent coach worth his weight will want to enter into the equation under these terms?

For all we know that NFL executive could be Matt Millen, I wouldn't give too much stock in that quote. Also, it was Spurrier who thought Trung Candidate would be a viable feature back in the NFL and at the time the move was appluaded by many in the league.

Wilbon said in an article the other day that the Redskins would be better off personnel wise if they had listened to some of his suggestions recently. Vinny's being judged by 2000's free agent debacle.. I'm willing to give him a couple of years of being 'the guy' to see if he's the man for the job.

If anyone really thinks that Fassel (or whoever the coach will be, but I'm pretty sure it's Fassel) wasn't involved or consulted in the assembly of the staff they're fooling themselves. That's why Spags isn't a legit candidate in my mind because he's been outside the loop.

Many professional sports franchises have owners who honestly dont care about winning and make no effort to do so. Daniel Snyder is not one of them. He may not always make the best decisions or the smartest ones from a fans perspective but we could have alot worse then Daniel Snyder as the owner of the Skin's.

George Steinbrenner didn't find a winning formula for his money and desire to win for a number of years but eventually he made the Yankee's(whom I hate btw) into yearly contenders. You may not like the way he has gotten it done but there is no arguing with his track record. He wins becuse he cares and is willing to spend the money to get the job done. Football is different because of the salary cap but it's pretty obvious that if you are willing to spend the money there are ways around the cap. If Jerry jones can win Super Bowls Danile Snyder will too.

If Snyder is taking his time to make the right choices here rather then the quick ones or the ones the fans are screaming for he is doing exactly what he should be doing. Fans didn't want Joe Gibbs to be the Skin's head coach the first time around but it worked out okay I think.

It's more important to pick the right guy then make a quick pick to appease an impatient and angry fanbase.

If this team is a SuperBowl contender a couple of years from now everybody will be singing the praises of Daniel Snyder. We could do one heck of alot worse then a guy who wants to win and is willing to spend whatever it takes to do so. Eventually he will find the right formula for the Skin's. I have little doubt about that.

Ah I have a point to make here. When do you hire assistants before you hire the new HC? By doing that, you are putting the new HC in a box, by not letting him pick his own guys. Any decent HC candidate with real NFL HC experience isn't going to go for that, unless MR Snyder has his man already, and he has given his blessing to these hirings. If this is indeed shoot from your hip hiring, Snyder is doing things backwards, and thus might be taking a big gamble with his franchise.
