Wasn't there a thread a couple of weeks ago about how we should hurry up and sign Jason to a big contract? Seems like fans want to either hurry up and sign him or hurry up and bench him. Instant gratification in football is a myth. It doesn't work. Danny tried that his first few years as owner. We have a first year coach and a QB playing in a new system. Let's get some linemen and keep building. The NY fans were ready to dump Eli long time ago. Not so much now.

Good post, and just to quote JLC one last time I think he echos the same view pretty well here:

I find it odd that a team that has over-achieved in terms of its record in the eyes of many, is allegedly being held back by the same QB who was among the top eight in the NFL at the midpoint of the season. I'm not buying it. Not even close. Fundamental issues of personnel and scheme adjustment are overarching principles, and no one player is going to overcome that.

To retard the development of Campbell, again, just to hand the team over to Todd Collins strikes me as absurd. This season, realistically, was never about winning the Super Bowl, or even winning the division. They weren't built for that. It's about building a solid program and growing into an offense and identity on that side of the ball that could stand up over time, and developing a quarterback who has the physical and mental tools to be very good for years to come.

Don't lose sight of that.

Have some patience folks.

Qb is a thankless job. When you're winning thats because its your job when you lose the guy behind you can do better. Ask Derek Anderson.

Fans are stupid. JC improved alot from last year, give him atleast a year with one system. Sure go get a good backup for competition next camp, but now let him do his thing.

It would be a huge mistake to replace JC at this point in the season and I am certain that Zorn & Co. wont do it.

what has campbell done good besides not turnover the ball. he is playing a back up role now which is dont turn the ball over and dont lose the game.

I agree, time for Colt. It's not that I hate jason; I just feel he can't get it done. As far as El and thrash we could cut even deeper.

While we are at it, why don't we bench Cooley, Rogers, Landry, Fletcher, Samuels, and Carter and see if Davis, Tryon, Moore, Blades, Heyer and Jackson can play?

We're still very much in the playoff race. You don't quit the race while you're still in it. To junk our best players so the fans can see how Colt might play against real opponents in the regular season is bats*#t crazy.

after we are out of the playoff race, we should see what we have, not while we are in the thick of it. but now that you mention it yoder could sit down for davis, washington will most likely be gone..blades needs to continue to play.....jansen will be gone, heyer should be playing and a rotation with jackson in the mix couldnt hurt. colt brennan may not be the answer but no one here can honestly say the are not curious about what this kid could do.....whats the harm if we are out of the playoff race.

I say this because your comments that Jason Campbell can't get it done make me think that between Week 2 and Week 8, all sources of information went dark, and you were unaware of the monstrous stretch that JC was having.

We need to judge JC after next year. Let's give the guy a full off season, pre season and the 09 season in the same offense and let the guy develop. However I do think Colt should get more of a look next pre season.

We need an offensive line period, screw this non-sense QB talk (Colt Brennan? Give me a freaking break!). If you have a line that can protect JC, we'd be in better shape. Heyer and Rinehart need to come up to speed next season, it'd be nice to acquire a solid young free agent lineman and draft offensive and defensive lineman with your first couple of picks...as a matter of fact, our first pick in the draft SHOULD be a offensive lineman. We've seen JC play some damn good games when he gets protection and our running game is working. So the team needs to focus on the offensive line in the upcoming off season.
