Re: If you could name a new owner for the Redskins who would it be and why?
True number one receivers are in highly limited supply and you can't just buy 'em. The best way to find them is in the draft, but the more costly way is to just trade a ton of picks for them, which they never do.

Joe Gibbs hands down.

I think that TJ Housh would have been a good pick up for the eagles.

Waldskins, first off him trading for TO was a good trade at first, because he did get them to the superbowl, if you didn't know what TO would have been like today, 5 years ago, you would have traded for him too, secondly they don't need to trade for a number one because they have a bunch of picks and money to get one through the draft or FA.. Other owners I would say would be dan Rooney and (I hate to say this because I hate them, but) Robert craft they both bring in the really good needable FA (Ryan Clarke, adalius Thomas) and build through the draft

And they bid on him. But are you suggesting they would have been better off vastly overpaying for him, and then watching as he has an albatross contract deep into his thirties while he blocks younger, more promising types? Housh isn't good enough to justify that.

But what if someone was willing to do it for $10 million per victory, AND make it easier by playing better? Wouldn't you take that instead?

One thing I am sure the Steelers would never do is spend $100 million on a D lineman. |

Anyway, I think you also have to account for some other factors here. I believe the Steelers employ much more of a vertical attack than most of the dink/dunk high completion percentage stuff that's out there, which is going to lead to a lower qb rating. Add that to the fact that he has had a subpar pass blocking o line the last 2 years and that he is constantly extending plays because of his size. I think stats definitely don't tell the whole story on his value... |

Re: If you could name a new owner for the Redskins who would it be and why?
I already answered Gibbs to this question...but let me say this. Some day in the future...could be 1 year could be 20 years...Dan Snyder is going to wake up and he's going to get rid of his side kick Vinny, take a step back and start doing things the right way. With his passion for the Redskins and willingness to spend anything to win he will someday become the best owner in sports. I just hope I am still alive when it happens...

Re: If you could name a new owner for the Redskins who would it be and why?
I think Smootsmack and I discussed this and volunteered last year for co-ownership, we were just having a hard time coming up with the $ 1.5B to make the deal, or was it for the Presidency, I can't remember.
How about we give the the Danny & Vinny a couple more years and if they revert back to their pre-Gibbs ways then throw them overboard (good luck with that). Pretty hard to make evaluations after one season of VC basicaly being the GM. The guy was a part of building the personnel for a SF championship and a Notre Dame championship.

My point is, with names like Haynesworth, Hall, J.Taylor, OchoCinco, Jay Cutler, etc, Danny and Vinny have gone right back to falling in love with and often overvaluing big names (Haynesworth was not overvalued IMO). Not to mention the money. Very Pre-Gibbs behavior if you ask me.

On a separate note, does anyone else remember when Gibbs was part of a possible ownership team for the Redskins back in '99? I think it was Sam Grossman's team. I always found it curious that John Kent Cooke made no attempt to have Gibbs on his team
