They got 4 sacks and gave up 13 points. I think every NFL defense would take 13 points. When Pittsburgh went to huddle Tenn just wore down and got tired. You're going to see a lot of that the first week of the season. But it did look like they could've used AH in there. But they didn't want to overpay and I don't blame them.

Why exactly are the Tennessee Titans a legit contender and we are a joke when someone picks us for the playoffs?

What do they have a QB? at WR? Is there defensive players better than ours?

Is it a coach thing? An organization thing?

When I look at their roster, then at ours, I just am puzzled...
Top to bottom Tenn is better than we are. They're better on the o and d lines, they had better rb's, qb, lb's and probably a better secondary....better special teams and they're better coached. They clearly outplayed Balt in the playoffs but lost cause of stupid turnovers. They play in a small market so you don't hear of some of their players. We'll see how it shakes out this year.

Yeah, there really is no comparison. They're just better.

The Titans defense was very unimpressive. The Titans offensive line was very unimpressive, though given the opponent, could have been worse. I thought Kerry Collins played reasonably well, and they have some good receivers there, and a smart offensive scheme. But it's hard for me to see that team going anywhere this year.

They'll be able to run on some teams, in which case, they'll put up offense.

You might want to give Pittsburgh a little credit. Tenn played them pretty even in their house. Might have won the game if not for two missed FG's.

Tennessee played well enough to win the game, but it's a game that the Steelers defense was playing shorthanded. It's a game that last year's Tennessee team would have won by a larger margin than they won last year.

In the AFC, I'm not sure that's going to get you past .500. If they run for 250 yards on the Texans next week, well, yeah they're probably fine. That's a real source of offense.

Ben Roethlisberger could have hiked passes between his legs and still completed them.

Looked like the Titans secondary just got completely winded. I still think Tennessee will make some noise this year.

Steelers are in big trouble if they don't have Polamalu for awhile. Ryan Clark can be a No. 1 safety, but Tyrone Carter can't be a No. 2.

Laughing stock is a little over dramatic

The Titans are my second favorite team, but its remarkable how much greener the grass is on the other side for so many people here.

The Titans do a lot well, but let's not forget...

- Their high profile, high first round pick has basically been a bust and is their backup QB right now to a 38 year old.

- They've made free agent moves that blown up in their face. David Givens comes to mind

- They managed the salary cap so poorly a few years back they not only had to release Derrick Mason, Eddie George, and Samari Rolle, they could barely even afford a full roster

Re: Question: Why are Titans a "Super Bowl Contender" while we are laughing stock?

Easy answer:
Jeff Fisher is one of the best coaches in the NFL, JZ unproven at all levels
Titans: 13-3 last year, Skins 8-8
Titans: One of the best personel teams in the league

Titans always seem to have a legit shot under JF.

I agree 100%. Jeff Fisher is what makes them a contender.

honestly?? because they are a good football team. Not saying we aren't, but who knows what we will do this season. They play mistake free football for the most part, the head coach is one of the best if not the best in football. He takes a team filled with good players and makes them a great team. they have no superstars, just solid hard nosed players. They have been good for many years, and we have not. I am puzzled why people on here keep putting us with the elite teams in the NFL when we are not there....yet. take off the burgandy & gold glasses and be realistic.
