Re: Portis expected to be back

I would love for CP to come back, practice, be quiet & earn his rep. back. Don't know that he's capable of it though.

CP has gone from blunt (calling out JC) to now being aggressively passive-aggressive. Has he ever just said in an interview that HE needs to improve?

That line about "going sideways" but when Ladell came in the game they called north-south plays. That sums it up, he can't even just shut up when it's obvious that someone is better than him.

CP ran "sideways" because he would run into blockers at the line then look for a hole. This year he gave new meaning to the term "home run hitter" being used in football, because he was always missing the holes.

Re: Portis expected to be back

The funny thing is that when i heard CP's statements, i really didn't think they were harsh at all. One of my favorite things about JC is that he doesn't let things effect him. From trade rumors to being one of the most hit and sacked QBs this year behind a bad line, from being benched for a crappy career back-up to having Cooley say he needs more balls and HIS OWN ORGANIZATION going for Cutler (who was horrible this year) and almost going for one of the rookies in the draft. Through all that, he didn't have any mean comments, vengeful statements, or bad behavior. I'm not rating his PLAY, i'm rating his character. He is NOT the "Rah Rah" QB that gives big speeches and grabs you by the facemask to chew you out after a dropped pass. That's how i interpreted CP's comments. I mean it's not like he said, "Jason is a big ole chup and everyone walks over him! Hope he get's fired. BRING ON COLT!"

Oh, and is it normal for an administrator on a Redskins site to use a different team icon? Just curious...

We are able to use anybody's team icon that we want here. If you scroll through all the available ones, there are many different teams available...

Re: Portis expected to be back

Clinton Portis does have one thing going for him.

He is tough, and like him or not, when he is on the field, he plays his heart out and never backs down from a LB blitzing from the corner. I love that about him. Now, the past 2 1/2 years, EVERYONE on the roster has been way too relaxed. Not enough fire in them, and they are not practicing hard, packing on the lbs., yada yada yada, and I do agree with those comments. But, that being said, overall, CP is a damn good redskin, and I think he deserves a shot at getting himself back into elite form with his former coach and former system that treated him so well back at Mile High. He deserves this season. Lets all get behind him, but for damn sure, you dont want to get in front of him, he will run right into your back, lol.!!!!!!

Big Jahvid Best fan, but the severe concussion that effectively ended his college career shouldn't be undervalued. Now, when you are talking about a second round RB, and particularly a Shanahan back, we're not talking about a guy who needs to have a long career to justify his draft status. Two or three strong years at the beginning of his career would be fine.

But Best is a guy who could be done after just one more severe concussion. And there's not a whole lot we can do to control when that happens except not drafting him. I think that's just the reality of a serious situation.

Yeah, I was watching that and seeing him posturing after it I thought that he had suffered major brain and/or nerve damage. It's definitely a concern.
