Re: Interesting Comments from Carlos Rogers
Rogers has simply not lived up to expectations. He's just an average to below average NFL cb who can't catch and gets beat too much. But we need him cause what else is out on the street that's better?

Keep him, we have bigger things to focus on like OL & LB.

Re: Interesting Comments from Carlos Rogers
Why does it have to be either/or?

Re: Interesting Comments from Carlos Rogers
Carlos is a good starting CB in this league, and the best one on our team. The drops don't bother me. Sure, I wish he caught them. But at least he's in position for a pick rather than getting constantly burned. I think Blache caused more problems than he solved with his stubborn "My way or the highway" approach. It's necessary for a coach, in today's NFL, to be dynamic and work to the strengths of their players. Not try to slam a square player into a round hole.
Carlos will get beat sometimes, but find me a CB that doesn't. There won't be better corners on the street. Keep him for a while and spend the money on other positions where we don't have both talent and youth.

The main point of cornerback is not to let receivers catch balls and score touchdowns.. |

Re: Interesting Comments from Carlos Rogers
^^ i think your comment about corners getting burnt sometimes is what carlos was referring to when he said they kept going man and not changing. you stick a corner out there to play man every single snap and he is going to get burnt. moreso than if you switch it up somewhat.
can a corner be considered "burnt" on a play if he is in zone? i'm guessing so but it probably is not so clear cut as maning up and the reciever catching the ball on you.

You have to tender him! Only get rid of Los if another team offers us a substantial offer in a trade.

that's probably why he gets killed on the double moves but for carlos it's probably more just not having a good eye for the ball, even when he's tight on a guy lately he doesn't have great anticipation for the ball or doesn't make a good play on it |

Re: Interesting Comments from Carlos Rogers
Calling Barnes a disappointment is a bit premature. I am not even sure this year is "critical". Sure, he should show progress, but come on - he was an f'ing rookie last year. Can we take some time to develop players before we toss them to the curb?

I agree. We were spoiled with Champ and Smoot, but both guys were first rounders. Just wish Rogers could make some game changing picks more often. Wish Smooty could get back into his old form too. I yearn for the "good ole days" when we had Green, Dishman, Richards, and Jesse Campbell. Yeah the safeties weren't the best, but they could pick some off occasionally. |
