Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 4)
I'm pretty sure the punt returner job is open and I doubt you could do any worse than what we had last year Bud. :thumb: I wish Firstdown had Matt Terl's job, reading his blog would be hilarious.

Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 4)
I'm curious about Trent Williams. Most reports I've read about him say he may be better suited for RT. Some say he should get a shot at LT and if nothing else you'll have a great RT for years. He played RT until last year and then took Phil Loadbolts spot. He had a great combine and seemed to show he has what a LT needs to be successful. I wonder if he's undervalued after playing only 1 year at LT? He's good, but good enough to play LT?

Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 4)
Most scouts/execs seem to believe that with Trent Williams' athleticism he can pretty quickly adapt to being an LT. Last year was really his first year playing LT. Right now he's a better RT than LT for sure, but he does offer the flexibility that Shanahan likes. Bulaga is similar in that he can probably play both, but I think he's better suited to play RT.
I think the best LT for us, and the one who will be the best 5 years from now when we look back on this draft is Charles Brown. I don't know that I would take him at #4 though. He's more of a late 1st, maybe early 2nd. Though I'd be surprised if he makes it to #37

At the same time I have absolutely no idea where Bruce Campbell will end up. His stock is more confusing then Tim Tebow and Colt McCoy combined.

Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 4)
I could see us trading with Buff. and picking up their 1st, 2nd and 5th round picks for our 1st and 4th round picks. They would be guaranteed either Brad. or Claussen, and we would be set up to get a starting LT, plus we get the 41st pick in the 2nd round, good quality will be there, could possibly get Taylor Mays at that spot as well (a little Sean Tayloresque....), plus we still have the 37th pick, which should definitely be another T or OG, although, this year it seems that there are a higher # of NFL quality T's than there are G's. Can't ever recall a season with so many Tackles, and so few quality guards. Weird.

Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 4)
Someone will take a chance on Campbell, but most believe he's greatly overrated
Ducasse is one that I really don't know where he'll go, Iupati as well Saffold is creeping into the late 1st/early 2nd round. And Selvish Capers is someone else who will probably be there in the early 2nd (probably even the late 2nd) Jason Fox's recurring injuries have him dropping If you could do Bradford-Capers or Okung-McCoy, personally I'd prefer the Bradford-Capers combination. If you could do Clausen-Saffold or Bulaga-LeFevour, personally I'd prefer the Clausen Saffold combination

Saffold is a decent T/G but is NOT an NFL LT I'm perfectly fine with fox's stock dropping because I think he could be our eventual starting RT, just once his knee gets back to normal My dream Combo would be Bradford Charles Brown My most likely to happen combo would be Okung Tebow My I don't want to happen combo would be Trent Williams LeFeavour The Combo the redskins really need is Okung Ducasse/Saffold

McCoy's biggest drawback seems to be arm strength. It would be interesting to know how it compares to Montana's when he played. I mean, he didn't exactly have a rocket arm did he?

Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 4)
From ESPN.com
Washington Redskins We know where Washington stands at quarterback and left tackle. I think Jason Campbell could do a nice job for Mike Shanahan, but so far, the coach isn't really embracing the incumbent starter. But those are the obvious needs. Honestly, there are no under-the-radar needs because the Redskins need help at pretty much every position. Maybe with the presence of Albert Haynesworth and Maake Kemoeatu, folks have been lulled into thinking the Redskins are OK at defensive tackle. But I don't think that's the case. If you can find a nose tackle early in the draft, you have to think about selecting him. Haynesworth's going to line up at defensive end the majority of the time. He wants no part of playing nose tackle, although he'll be there some of the time. The Redskins would also be wise to look for inside linebackers for their new 3-4 scheme. If you think London Fletcher's going to succeed in a 3-4, you haven't studied the league. Little guys like Fletcher simply don't function well in this type of defense. Ask the Cowboys' former mighty mites Dat Nguyen and Dexter Coakley. It just doesn't work for 5-10 guys to be taking on 340-pound guards who are light on their feet. So yes, inside linebacker might qualify as an under-the-radar need. The Redskins still have questions at punter and placekicker as well. They have needs all over the roster, so this could rank as the most important draft in the last 20 years. Nothing's really under-the-radar when it comes to this team's draft needs.

Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 4)
In a 3-4 Golston and Haynesworth would be a DE, Monty would be a backup so NT is still a pretty big need position with Kemoeatu coming off an injury ........There should be a few NT's avaliable in the later rounds of the draft.

Golston is pretty impressive. He had 30 something tackles last year rotating at DT.
