Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday

I could see Shanny putting John Beck in so we can see what the guy is capeable of, but theres already more than enough film out there on grossman. Also, if we're moving on from McNabb next year, then why the heck would we bench him? all it does is destroy his trade value. we will not get a THING for mcnabb now. we really did just piss a 2nd and 3rd rounder away. Speaking of film, with all the film out there on McNabb, if shanahan didnt like him, why did we even trade for him. McNabb has been exactly what we all expected he would be here. whats shananan so upset about?

This team has become even more of a joke under shanahan. Atleast Zorn had inexperience as an excuse. At this point, if you asked me to choose between firing Shanahan and cutting McNabb, i'd rather fire shanahan.

My one hope is that at the next game, the fans will be chanting for Cowher.

I'm going against the mob here and say I love this move. McNabb may be 9th in passing, but he's also WAY up there in attempts. I'm sick of seeing wide open receivers getting bounce passes from McNabb. The season is over, lets see what Grossman has under his belt. What if he blows it up? I want to see Grossman play.

I'm not a big McNabb guy at all, and I would also like to see what Grossmman/Beck have to offer.

To me, the frustration lies in the indecision of Shanny and Co. McNabb is the guy, let's get him and give up high draft picks to do so. Ok. Then let's bench him in week 8, and offer up a stumbling, cockamamy explanation for doing so. Then let's give him a contract extension. Now let's bench him again, and divide the locker room in doing so. I mean, WTF is going on?

If you want to see grossman play, there's plenty of film out there on him. he's garbage. he'll be our worst starting QB since patrick ramsey.

Excellent question. And there’s no better question with which to expose the inadequacies of this organization. There seems to be little strategic continuity between the coaching staffs, the personnel choices, the long-term drafting strategy, etc, etc.

And ultimately, I’m just tired; tired of complaining about the front office, tired about listening to others complain about the front office, just as I’m tired of the embarrassment and failure of the team. Tired, tired, tired.

McNabb has played like hell all year long. Like Shit most of the time. If Shanahan really is trying to change the team, then we have to accept that McNabb would eventually be benched due to his poor play this season. Shanahan needs to put the best product on the field.

Leaving McNabb in no matter how bad he played would be something the previous regime would do. Look at all those years Campbell stunk it up and nobody ever considered if a QB switch would do anything.

Lets give this move a chance before preaching doom and gloom....

he has been sacked almost 40 times, for more than half the year his #2 was joey galloway, only one of are current receivers was actually playing in the nfl last year. and none of our rb's were in the league last year. yet somehow he still almost has 4000 yards passing. and you think rex grossman is the best product to put on the field? give me a ****ing break

Are you serious? McNabb is 2nd in the NFC in passing yards. How you can say that he's played like sh*t? The entire team has played like sh*t, there's nothing a QB can do when there's a severe lacking in playmakers.

I can't imagine someone telling a RB, you're having a terrible year, despite him being second in the NFC rushing. Telling a LB he sucks, despite him being second in the NFC in tackles, or telling a passrusher he sucks despite him being # 2 in the NFC in sacks. This is a team game, Shannahan is looking for a scapegoat, looks like that mission is accomplished.

Very misleading statistic.

He hit a lot of big plays, gotta at least give him credit for that, but he's been too much of an all or nothing QB. Lack of consistency did him in.

The "consistent" element/engine of the passing offense has exclusively belonged to Santana Moss this year. Not surprising, the offense has gone as Moss has. When he's catching the ball, it's productive. When he goes away, there's no plan B. It's an all or nothing down the field throw to Armstrong or a TE.

In your analysis did you want to include the:
58% Completion Percentage
14 TD
15 INT
77% QB rating
???

Shanahan is too smart for this. Unless he's just gone insane, I think he's trying to get fired. Maybe he's decided that he just doesnt like it here in washington or he's not getting along with allen and/or snyder. Or maybe he's interested in returning to Denver...

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday

This just blows my mind. I remember B. Mitch talking about how all these rumors they here from Skins reporters time and time again show to be true and the coach just won't admit it. So, when reporters were asking him about Rex getting more reps and that he could have started last week, Shan. reacted like it was a bunch of bull.

I have to say this kind of circus is making it harder and harder to say give Shanahan four full seasons before passing judgment. Trading away picks and using what limited picks we have on skill positions is why we are old, slow and unable to compete. If Donovan only came here one year to play for a 2nd and a 3rd or whatever it was, I have no clue what's going on anymore.
