Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs. Dolphins)
1. red zone offense. this goes to everyone on offense. it comes down to rex making a bad decision and throwing a pick. it comes down to logan paulsen holding and moving us back from the goal line to the 10. it comes down to not being able to run the ball effectively to get 5 yards when we get the ball handed to us on the 5.
2. 3rd down defense. 8/14, unacceptable any way you slice it. 3. anthony armstrong. you just lost your job to a free agent (anderson?) who just got signed 6 days ago. what happened to you? 4. fred davis. catch. the. ball. stop dropping passes.

There were more but I'll continue to
and go with the secondary.More specifically D Hall... so tired of this guy, would love to trade him but we wouldn't get squat. Wouldn't mind if they released him at this point. |

You are not beating a dead horse. Hall is among the highest paid players on the roster and he is an ordinary performer on the field. The myth is that he is a "shut down corner". If that is the case, how come offensive coordinators with QBs of the quality of Matt Moore target his side of the field at least as often as they do the other side of the field. The only facet of the game in which Hall excels is running his mouth. In Texas, they call him "all hat and no cattle".

I'm almost 100% positive Los got his eyes checked.
But anyhow, said this off-season I thought Armstrong was too one dimensional but I can't see how TA isn't getting more touches. They say when you have 2 QBs you have none. I guess when you have 8 WRs you have none.

GTripp For complaining about having a young guy like Perry Riley on the team last week.

Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs. Dolphins)
No sense is discussin the offense for the remainder of the season.
Defensively though, I think the greatest myth in Skins history is this absurd notion Shanny/Haslett have improved the defense. It's...just...effing...absurd. The average defensive units in the Williams/Blache era would have held the Dolphins to less than ten points today. I understand new fans, as in those who just "followed" Mike the Rat to DC, as believing the defense is improved. Certainly our avg at best defense (this year) is better than worst in the league (last year), so again I understand the mistake from a new fan. But for anyone who's watched this team since about '04...c'mon people denial ain't just a river in Egypt. I soooooooo miss the Williams/Blache days of run stuffing, contain defense. With a legit FS and QB we would have been elite. Eff Shanny for setting the defense back so far. ...btw BIG props to Andre Carter for a monster game tonight. Love that guy!! Miss him and the group he was part of.

Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs. Dolphins)
cutting Todd Collins was a terrible decision? And I'd highly disagree that signing Rex Grossman as a backup qb was a bad decision.
In truth Shanahan took a big chance on McNabb, and failed. Chose not to draft a QB this past draft which looks like a mistake until at least next year. That equals two mistakes, not 8.

I'm also giving some smack to Sam Huff. I listened to the game on my way to the sportsbar. He just needs to stop making a fool of himself and retire.

People seem to be afraid to fire him but it's long, long, long overdue. And it would be to his benefit. He's one of the greatest football players ever. He revolutionized the linebacker position. Yet there's a whole generation of Redskins fans that will only remember him as this buffoon on the radio. He can't handle the grind of weekly NFL games. Let him do some feature pieces for Redskins.com, give his opinion in weekly round tables. But get him off the radio during the game.

Well Doc has been kind of serving as a bit of a sideline reporter so he could conceivably be the next man up.
