I agree w/Matty, seems SOOOO long ago that Torrence was here. When I saw that we signed him, I immediately thought back to JLC's time on the insider at wash post, and how he dissed the staff decision to cut Torrence. In hindsight, he may've had it right, since GW went to NO & Torrence played there for almost 4 years!

As competition for the nickel, I say Torrence is a good move. Plus he's a good locker room guy. For those down on the secondary, we still have the draft and cuts after that to pick through. All is not lost. We made it through last year with our two starting safeties either hurt or ineffective.

Right, plus the 2 corners are back, albeit they're not great, I think both are good. I liked what I saw from Gomes, look for him to improve. And they put together a lot of vet depth, someone out of that group of Barnes, Williams, Griffin, Torrence & Meriweather will need to emerge. I think we all know what we have in Doughty, solid but not great at SS.

If he is healthy, he's probably our best safety.

I think right now C. Griffin easily beats our Torrence as the nickle which is not saying much.

This whole offseason has seen no one added yet to the roster that other teams will have to specifically game plan for.

Outside of some previously big money receivers there weren't a lot of top tier guys in FA that were likely to come here. We are not only creating competition for starters but for backups too. Our depth has been shit for awhile.. not everyone is signed to start. No more handing out roles.. time to earn them.

Griffin will change that. He'll make Garcon into a legit #1 also. Every WR will be a deep threat, which will open up running lanes for our QB and RBs.

Our offense should be explosive and a lot of fun to watch. It's the D I'm worried about now, specifically the secondary. LB will take a big hit without Fletcher but we still have 'Rak and Kerrigan. Riley and Alexander are good also, but London is the leader of the group and still plays at his normal high level. Our D-Line is the best part of our D, especially with Jarvis Jenkins coming back.

I really think we're going to just have to outscore the opponent every week to win and most weeks, I think we will. We'll torch their secondaries, they'll torch ours. Luckily, we have a scary pass rush to slow things down but if they get time to throw, we're in trouble.

I'd like to see how Jenkins fits into this DL. I don't remember him having a ton of production coming out of school or blowing scouts away at the combine last year. I do remember a high motor and good agility. Weak upper body?

He was having arguably the best training camp of any D-lineman last year as a rookie before he got hurt. I fully expect him to push Carriker for a starting spot at DE this year.

At first glance at the TV this morning, I thought it said we signed Terrance Newman. I almost threw my bowl of cereal.

I forgot all about Leigh Torrence. He should be safe from Bountygate suspensions...he would have had to actually hurt someone.
