Re: London Fletcher re-signs with Redskins
Glad they signed Fletch but if that moneys correct then I think they overpaid.I dont see any other team in the league handing out that kind of money to a linebacker that old.3-5 million a yr seems more like it.
As far as Gtripp's post,Ive never viewed them as negative, just realistic. While Fletcher has started every game,he was hurt last yr but he still made it on the field, maybe thats what Gtripp is refering to when he says hobbled.Aga catches up to you quick and its not as easy to heal from those injuries.

Re: London Fletcher re-signs with Redskins
Is there a more dependable middle linebacker in the NFL than London Fletcher? Emphatically no. The guy shows up every day, every week and puts in work. Bottom line, our defense is much better with Fletcher than it is without him.
Secondly, we need to get over the "did we overpay" crap. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. This is the NFL, not Dairy Queen. I distinctly remember years ago, some of you on this board were bitching and moaning, and rightfully so, when the 'Skins would let guys like Antonio Pierce and Ryan Clark walk. Now the organization displays some actual loyalty, keep one of our own and ante up at the same time, some folks still ain't happy. I fi |

It's nice to be able to say that a guy deserves his contract. London Fletcher definitely deserved to get this deal & hopefully will end his career in B&G. |

are you kidding me? he walked because we wouldn't pay like 1.5mill or something trivial... then we signed archuletta to an awful contract, wasted a top 10 pick on landry (and gave him a big contract), sign AO to a giant contract... and this whole time he's been playing better (for less) than any of those guys. If you waste $100mill trying to replace a guy, it's a pretty big loss. |

Re: London Fletcher re-signs with Redskins
Serious question for those that think we overpaid. Someone please explain to me, what's "too much" for a player Fletcher's caliber on and off the field? And how do you quantify the value of said replacement at the same position and his impact on the team?

Re: London Fletcher re-signs with Redskins
He's worth the money. However at his age it's risky business giving him 14 million.

"Too much" indicates that the money could be spent elsewhere on a younger more productive player. LF is a good roll model and player, however the league is the NFL (not for long) and at some point in the near future the skins are going to have to go in another direction. LF is not going to last forever, the team and it's followers will have to accept a new leader and go forward. Players get old, a team cannot set itself back by rewarding past performance, new leaders have to emerge. Please realize that the skins haven't been successful with him, how much difference has he made on the field in wins and losses. |
