Re: Alfred Morris pick 6.3
I know of a rookie that rushed for over 1800 yards his rookie season. (Dickerson)
Barry did it too, I think he had around 1300 or so, and I think its actually quite common for rookie running backs to have over 1000 yards. I think its something like 30 or 40 rooks to have done it. I just dont think its as rare as you think. * Just looked this up, there have bee 56 rooks to hit the mark of 1000. Even the Redskins had their own, good ol Reggie Brooks, in 1993. |

Re: Alfred Morris pick 6.3
He is in the top four after the 4th week in TDs, YRDS, 1st Downs, and a bunch of other stuff. I say he has a pretty hot hand.
If not for RG III and Luck he may have been a canidate for ROY.

Re: Alfred Morris pick 6.3
Interesting note, although the Donovan McNabb experiment failed miserably, the Redskins got a sixth-round pick for him from Minnesota. What’d they do with that pick? They spent it on Morris. So, McNabb gave the Redskins something after all.

Re: Alfred Morris pick 6.3
I was temped to start a new thread on the topic, but I'll ask it here.
Based on what we we've seen from Helu and Royster (last season), do you guys feel Morris is the best running back or can either Helu or Royster still compete for the starting job next season? Also, who'd you prefer? |

I think it's AM's job to lose at this point.

Re: Alfred Morris pick 6.3
On pace for 1,503 yards and 16 touchdowns, been a great pickup and love his TD celebration.

Re: Alfred Morris pick 6.3
I should probably ask this question more towards the halfway point of the season, but do you all think we're officially set at the RB position, meaning there is no need to upgrade? Kind of like us being set at OLB, theres no need to upgrade there.

Re: Alfred Morris pick 6.3
MS always likes to add RBs in the later rounds of the draft. I don't think we're set, not when Helu can't stay healthy.

"I don't like losing yards. That's one of my pet peeves."
reminded me of larry johnson's great run, can anyone find a video of that negative yardage run? lj's redskins stats: 5 attempts, 2 yards, longest rush... 7 yards.

Re: Alfred Morris pick 6.3
Helu is my favorite but like Matty said it's probably AM's job to lose. The nice thing is I'm comfortable with any of them starting.

Re: Alfred Morris pick 6.3
Trung Canidate? That's a name I not heard in a long time. A long time. Those backs who played for the Redskins from the time Stephen Davis left until Clinton Portis came were scrubs. There's a lot to like about Alfred Morris. He's strong, he runs hard, and most of all, he's durable. Add in the fact that he was a sixth round steal and you have a top flight back. This Alfred Morris could have an all pro season as a rookie.
