Neild Placed on IR, Redskins Add DL Marlon Favorite

But he was average most of last season. Word has it that Chris Baker was pushing Neild hard to become the back up NT. We were all pretty surprised when Neild made it over Bryant last year. So if Baker was doing better than Nield and Nield is an upgrade over Bryant then it sounds like we are starting to get some really good depth at NT.

Either way after Neild's huge game last year i became an immediate fan. I feel like he didnt get enough snaps at all last year and really wanted to see him play this year. If he can stay focused a year away from the game working on his technique and trying to get bigger, stronger, and faster might help him.

Looking foward to him coming back strong next year.

Would have loved to have him, but as long as Baker is healthy, I don't think it's going to be as bad as it could have been.

Chris Baker has just about won the back up NT job. Neild proved his worth last season as a 7th round draft pick rookie. All Neild has to do is rehab and work on his strength and conditioning. I look forward to seeing Chris Neild back in '13.

Once a player with less than four seasons of league experience is cut or released from a team, the other 31 teams are given the chance to claim the player from the waiver wire. Favorite (6-1, 317) was originally signed as a college free agent by the Carolina Panthers on May 1, 2009. He spent portions of the 2009 season on the practice squads of the St. Louis Rams, Kansas City Chiefs, Seattle Seahawks and New Orleans Saints.

He spent part of the 2010 offseason with the Buffalo Bills before signing with the Indianapolis Colts on May 18, 2010. He was released by the Colts on Sept. 4 of that year.

He was added to the New England Patriots’ practice squad on Jan. 5, 2011, before being released by the Patriots on Aug. 5.

He signed with the Philadelphia Eagles three days later and was released by the Eagles on Aug. 26. He signed with the St. Louis Rams on Aug. 31 until being released on Sept. 3.

So... If you add all that up, it's craziness. ~10 teams in 3 years. He's been the hottest pickup in the offseason every year (by arguably some of the best teams in the league - Colts, Patriots, Saints, Eagles) --- but he's never been on an active NFL roster during the season.

He's now my Favorite player. Our team wins the offseason every year, and he clearly does as well..

I assume he is just depth to get the Skins thru the month of August and then he is gone. He is not making the team, just getting a paycheck until September starts.

well, not to make light of a serious injury or anything, but if we had to have a player go to IR, I rather it be our #3 DT than say, trent or garcon or, you know.

I can't say I'm overly excited about the Redskins signing Favorite. The man has been waived so many times by so many teams which means he's not that good.
