He was hobbling with a very intense limp. I dunno. I think maybe kirk could have won the game giving him the helm up by 14. I know its already ancient history, but having our franchise guy ALREADY with a torn ACL (his second) and a torn LCL doesn't bode well for the future. This is where he needs to become ultra cerebral, and learn to just be a pocket passer, and only a very situational scrambler.
Exactly!! This is why they should have benched him till he was healthy to begin with, he is the FRANCHISE QB after all. It's over and done can't cry over spilled milk, let's just hope he doesn't suffer a third knee injury cause that could be it whether he's young or not.

There is, and I believe they sort through almost 50k scenarios before they settle on the one that works best for everyone. To think that one guy would deliberately go out of his way to make one teams schedule extra hard is among the more crazy ideas I've heard.

We are now on scheduling conspiracies? Man ive seen some amazing stuff on this board since the injury, never been this crazy.

People, its football. Guys get hurt all the time. Im thoroughly exhasted from the 1)blame game 2) injury speculation in the assumptions room and now 3)Time tables.

Let's let this play out, and please note, the Kurt Cousins pick is another feather in the genius cap of the FO. Im sure we already have a plan and I got faith, regardless of the RG3 injury, we will remain competitive in our division.

Update 10:57: While conducting surgery to repair the torn lateral collateral ligament in Robert Griffin III’s right knee, Dr. James Andrews found that the quarterback’s anterior cruciate ligament is in relatively good condition. But a person with knowledge of the situation said the ligament “needs to be stronger.”

Robert Griffin III surgery is underway [updated]

The biggest problem with this development is a repeat of what we saw on the field on Sunday: a fantastic 22 year old star athlete who has a skewed perception of himself as Superman physically capable of super-human feats and a head coach who lacks the guts to force the 22 year old to face reality. I
have no doubt that no matter how the surgery and rehab go, RG3 will declare himself ready for opening day whether that is medically correct or not and no one will have the maturity and guts to tell RG3 to show a reasonable level of caution.

I agree without about RGIII, but not about the coaching staff not having the guts to say no to RGIII in the future. During the post game press conference, Shanahan said something to the effect of his still learning how honest RGIII is when it comes to how he feels. Players will always say they can play, even when they cant. Once a coach works with a player for a while, they learn when the player truly can go and when he is just being tough and trying not to let his teammates down. Shanahan admitted to the fact that he would second guess some of the decisions he made. I'm pretty sure that Shanahan won't take Griffin's words at face value anymore.

Regardless of how quickly RGIII recovers, one positive i see is that Cousins will get most - if not all - of the offseason and preseason work. This should really help him develop and mature as a player so, not only will he be more primed for success as our temporary starter, but whenever he moves into the backup role, he'll be more prepared to come in on a moments notice without missing a beat.

Said I was going to stay away, but your increased circumspection today, BHA, has made me have to comment on the above.

Another role played in all of this is young Robert's fearlessness. I think that's a chink in his armor, a flaw - I think he's fearless to a fault. Now the coach knows that.

I don't think it happens again, either.

And if I'm reading between the lines correctly of the things Robert himself has been saying since Sunday on Facebook, I think he is kicking himself, too, and maybe he's wizened up about that.

Just admit it - you cant quit the warpath. No reason to take a hiatus.

His dad said the AcL wasn't as bad and that they just did they surgery anyway. I guess he's trying to say it wasn't torn all the way? Either way I'm done w the RGIII knee lol.

As some reports seem to indicate a partial tear can be worse than a full tear. No guarantee it will heal or get back to 100% at least, and the potential for it to fully tear will always be there. Best to just start from scratch I guess.

He'll be back. They will run the same offense because it's so effective, and he will learn to be more careful like he was when it was hurt.

Re: RGIII undergoing total reconstructive surgery: out 6-8 months

is anyone else excited that kirk is going to get so much work in the offseason, preseason, and possibly/probably regular season?

silver lining, a great chance to further develop our backup
