I just worry about what lame name someone would come up with otherwise. I would be offended if they called themselves the Washington Generals. Do we really want to be associated with the basketball team that is punked by the Globetrotters all the time? The Washington Federals means a complete rebranding of colors, logos - a new identity. So the team still owns the trademarks until the appeal is over. If they get denied, I take it the use of the term Redskins is a free for all and the team will no longer have sole rights to its ownership.

Nope. (As you may have already read.)

This is the very same thing that happened in 1999. Very same "evidence" - everything identical. I would be extremely surprised if the ruling is upheld.

Who decides what is "Disparaging". As a Redskins fan the name "Cowboys" is highly disparaging to me. Quick, some one take a poll and send it in to the tradmark office. I want Jerry Jones to lose his trademark as well. While we are at it with this political correctness witchhunt, tell Obama that his beloved Chicago Bears name is also disparaging. Bears are scary! I want that trademark denied.

FYI -
For those that keep posting why Braves, Chiefs and other Native team names are not offensive, the issue is the word SKIN. A reference to someone's SKIN COLOR. REDSKINS. Get it?

I do not care what our team name is. I was born and raised in the Washington DC area so I am a huge fan of the team. I would be a fan regardless of the name. The name means nothing to me.
If this is SO upsetting to you, you need to get a life.
