The think with Paul is the catches he does make, makes you think: "Wait, he caught that? Great catch!"

And the ones he drops make you say "How in the fu*k did he not catch that?"

But if he can develop into a 2nd receiving TE, we will be even more dangerous.

Shameless self-promotion. It is what it is.

I also find it interesting that gruden chooses to use miles paul as the pass catcher instead of Paulson. Paulson is used exclusively to block.

Did anyone notice when cousins came in, the Oline looked immediately better pass blocking? Cousins doesn't hold the ball, he reads and has a has quick trigger. I thought it was obvious between the 2.
I don't know much about QB play but I could definitely see Cousins going through his reads. His head was on a swivel.

Re: Skins-Jags Positives and Negatives

Cousins did a very good job in his interview, he is certainly doing his best to downplay any idea of a QB controversy, "this is Robert's team, and my role hasn't changed," "Thats just the life of a backup quarterback." I don't buy it for a second, but I appreciate that he is trying to keep the focus on the team winning games, as futile as it is.

Everything except Rambo, penalties, and injuries were incredibly positive today. I hope we get good news on these injuries. Especially D Jax.

I heard DJax was a mild shoulder sprain and he should be back next week. I can't imagine him wanting to miss that Philly game.

Re: Skins-Jags Positives and Negatives

Serious Question here - Rich Tandler the redskins blogger is saying that RG3 may be out for most of the year. Do the redskins do the whole Damon Huard / Trent Green thing? What i'm asking is if the Skins are winning and in playoff contention with Cousins, do they go back to RG3 or do they stick to the hot hand?

It would be terrible to see Kirk and the team almost get to the playoffs to have a hobbled RG3 come back and tank the season...

Paul has been impressive. Another guy that would have been cut long ago if it were up to the fans.

It's a shame. Paul looks like the fastest man on the field, sometimes. What's really holding him back? Basic route running? Keeping up with options? What?

Mistakes. He the fumble last week was a massive mistake. And he had a big drop today. I like the guy, eliminate the mistakes and he could take his game to the next level.

I think as Niles Paul gets more playing time I think he will shake some of the drops. Some people may not remember or were too young know that another Redskins #84 Gary Clark suffered from drops as well.
Clark dropped several critical easy ones, he was wide open and the ball was delivered in his hands:

Clark picks himself up after early drop Two TD catches help Redskins win - Baltimore Sun

When a receiver drops the easy ones concentration is the problem and it can easily be remedied. Just like we did not give up Gary Clark, I am glad we did not give up on Paul.

I'd like to think that wasn't a reference to Rambo.

Just saying it's all too common for fans to give up on players prematurely. Some guys take a couple of years to develop. Especially one that made a position change early on in Paul. And yeah, in a few years it's possible we could be saying the same for Rambo.

You're starting to worry me now, Matty. I never gave up on Paul because he has talent and he is a ST stalwart. But Rambo?! P-u-u-u-u-l-e-e-z! Not only can he not tackle at all but he doesn't play ST. He has little chance of surviving very long on the active roster, IMO.

When is the last time you saw any Redskins safety make two such pathetic attempts to tackle a player, resulting in in very long TD's, in consecutive games?

I won't matter if Haslett defends Rambo, Gruden can't risk that happening again. Now, we talking about Gruden's career. Trust me on this one; he will be gone from the active roster soon. Haslett might be able to talk Allen into keeping him on the PS.

I don't care if Haslett has defended Rambo, Gruden can't risk that happening again. Trust me on this one; he will be G-O-N-E, GONE from the active roster soon. Haslett might be able to talk Allen into keeping him on the PS.
You might not have given up on Paul but plenty of people did.
