Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings 2020

Skins fans on twitter are all mad about a slow FA period.. I'm glad they didn't break the bank on Bradberry or Flowers. I did want Cooper but whatever. Robby Anderson would be a solid pick-up and cheaper.

Also:
Lost Ereck Flowers to Miami. had offered him around 8.5 per; signed for 10

Lost on Amari Cooper. Offer around 22 per; stayed in Dallas for 20. Skins really wanted

Did not pursue Hooper/Bradberry/Jones. not surprised at 1st 2; mild by 3rd, but $ too high on all for yield

I think Anderson is going to get paid, probably not Cooper money but he won't be cheap

To me that dude just feels like another Paul Richardson. Not as much of an injury history but not sure he fits the mold of tough players that Rivera is looking for.

Bostic coming back probably ends the MLB search.

Anderson too inconsistent for my taste at WR....Id rather go Sanders on a 1 year. Demarcus Robinson is interesting but too much of an unknown for a big deal.

Randall signed with Carolina last night, Boston isn't coming back, but I would gladly take him here.

I don't want to sign Right Tackles to play Left tackle.

I think we draft a LT in the 3rd, its a deep class but we'll see.

Just saw Randall damn

The Cooper signing just shows players don't want come here. Hopefully RR can change that culture.

I had Cooper on my FF team last year; Dallas at the end of the season basically stopped going to him and he was all pissey. Surprised he went back.

Paying him as the highest paid WR in the league would have been dumb; Cooper saved us from yourselves.

So what does Fuller, Bostic, and Schweitzer mean?

The money was close on Cooper, we offered $22M and he stayed in Dallas for $20M. It's not as if he turned down a mega offer.

Maybe Cooper didn't want to come here BECAUSE he knew Rivera wouldnt put up with him getting "pissey". With the wholesale change of the front office, and particularly BA, I doubt guys are viewing the Skins in a negative light right now.

What I heard is that Washington drove up the cost of Cooper for Dallas. Cooper also wanted to stay in Dallas. Kind of a win for us costing Dallas cap money.

“I love being a Dallas Cowboy,” Cooper said in March during an appearance on 105.3 The Fan. “I think about it almost every day. Just the aura of being a Dallas Cowboy, you can’t beat it. I want to be a Dallas Cowboy for life. . . I do, I mean that whole-heartedly. I love Dallas. Just to have the opportunity to play on a different team, you see the changes and stuff like that. I feel like it's home. I feel like I want to live there for a long time."

A lot of people are saying this, but it completely ignores the tax implications. The skins reportedly offered Cooper $110 million; however, cooper would have had to pay 6% state income taxes here. There are no state income taxes in Texas, so its pretty much a wash.

Cooper made it clear he wanted to stay in Dallas. He and Dak have a good relationship. Dallas traded to acquire him when he had a lot of doubters. So there is some loyalty there. If he had chosen to leave Dallas, sell his home, leave his friends, relocate his family, to end up netting, after taxes, slightly more to play for a division rival, it would have been a huge F. U. to Dallas.

So I really don't think Cooper's decision is even a remotely an indictment that players don't want to come here.

Fact remains Dallas are closer to competing right now, thats why Cooper , and Hooper for that matter, would likely have better options

Also lets keep in mind, this team is a far cry from righting the ship with one FA and Draft class; its going to take some time.
