He may have, we really don't know. I think if anything it hopefully shows that Shanahan is being allowed to build "his" team" vs. the owner or Allen bringing in a someone they want or someone to fill a roll.

Exactly. The whole point of getting the organization right, was that decisions were made by the "appropriate" person. I don't think a GM should make the final call on a position coach. I imagine Shanahan talked to BA and got his opinion, and maybe Snyder's to, but it's Shanahan's call to make. No more, "he's a VC guy, or a DS guy, or a whoever guy" if the coach is on the staff, it's Shanahan's responsibility - for good or bad.

Sometimes when you've been a bad relationship for a long time, when you get out, you still don't know what a good relationship even looks like. That is the best explanation I can come up with for a LOT of the fan comments I see and hear.

Also the fact that McCardell followed the team for a year as a analyst with Comcast had to play a part in the hiring. I remember his last statement on Comcast was offering to coach the young recievers on air... I guess he'll get his chance, I hope he does a good job!

KM was part of the Bill Walsh Minority Coaching Fellowship last summer, and worked with the NY Giants' receivers during training camp. Judging by how the Giants WRs did this year, I think he did ok.

All this tells me is he went to a camp in which the Giants WR coach taught new coachs how to coach. How much information was given, how much information was retained, how good the camp was all together all remains to be seen.

I think what we have to hope for is McCardell can get his talents across to the young guys and the young guys understand it and apply it.

But as I pointed out earlier we have several other offensive coachs that have been WR coachs prior to their current positions so I guess I'm not worrying.

Yes, Allen was at the senior bowl.

At the Senior Bowl practices, Shanahan, general manager Bruce Allen and director of player personnel Scott Campbell are the principle figures for the Redskins.

You know what's funny, I didn't hear anything about Snyder being there.

Thought that I had seen that he was; also did not hear anything about Snyder, not that I'd have the info if it was secret, but even a Google query brought up nothing.

This is from Matt Terl's Blog, specifically part of Bruce Allens radio interview the other day:

---
Quote:
But, [Bruce Allen] insisted, the owner's involvement goes only as far as his open wallet. "I don't think he'll ever come on a scouting mission," Allen said, "and he never did go on a scouting mission. He went with his family to a college game, but I don't know if that's a scouting mission. He didn't go to the Senior Bowl this year. He will go to the Combine, along with 25 owners, because there's a league meeting at the Combine."

We're going to have 1 WR coach for every WR we have on the team.
