I think the coaching is the main reason for lack of downfield passing.

I think there has been such an emphasis placed on 'not taking sacks' and getting the ball out quick that it has come at the detriment of the main reason to throw the ball in the first place: chunk yardage.

This passing offense is largely imho geared towards 'replacing the run game'.
We don't throw the "big ball".

The offense is 30th in passes over 25 yards.
30th.

We're 22nd in YPA (up from 30th helped in large part by the Saints game where the huge jump in YPA came from 80% yards after catch)

I think the coaches do a poor job of scheming 'big throws'.
I think Kirk sticks closely to the 'don't take sacks' mantra.
I don't see schemed square ins, skinny post, deep curls....I see quick slant, quick outs, wr screen, check down and TE who sit 5-8 yard zone pockets....

Yup.

I'm sure part of it is because Garcon isn't great at separating on his own without the help of scheme. A lot of Jay's offense seems to be reliant on the player winning and making the play or scheme work. Rather then creating a scheme that allows the player to win. Its the difference between Kyle's playcalling with Garcon catching 113 at 11.9 ypc vs 68 balls at 11.1 ypc with Jay/McVay.

Neither here nor there but 2 routes Garcon does well are the skinny post and the dig.

Chico..you can't be serious. Josh McDaniels is a joke. He's the type of guy that's a really good OC but that's it. He is not HC material. All you have to do is look at his stint in Denver, as well as his stop in St. Louis.

He pretty much pissed off everyone in Denver, ran off Jay Cutler, drafted Tebow in the first round and didn't report the taping of the opponents practice.

Pat Bowlen is one of the most patient owners around and you have to fuck up pretty bad for him to run you off in your second year.

lol...all good points. a lot time the second stint for HC can be much better. McDaniels scheme and calls this year have been borderline amazing...look at the injuries on the Oline, RB, WR...10-0. Im impressed with McDaniels and think this wouldn't be a bad choice.

I think its a bit early for coaching search.

But, McDaniel HC/Schwartz DC would be on my list for sure.

Lets be honest, reports mean nothing. Not saying he wont be back, as none of us truly have a clue, but the only way to know is to wait til the offseason and see what happens. If McC chooses to fire him, he is gone regardless of what was said recently. I dont think that decision has been made yet. I suspect McC is going to let the year play out then make a decision in the offseason based on the entire season.

Same guy who called Scot coming to DC before people thought it was an option. Whoever he knows on the inside is usually accurate

One thing people have to remember is we don't even know if Scot is making the call on HC. His title is a bit unique "PLAYERS Personnel "

Could still be a Bruce Allen call which would be a failure

Agreed.

Every year some coaches receive the "vote of confidence". Sometimes the coaches survive sometimes they don't.

The NFL is fluid. A statement about a decision may be true in NOV but inconceivable in JAN. We don't know.

Jay/Cousins fates are in their hands.

Consistency is good.........if you have figured out a good formula. Consistency for consistency-sake is not good.

Right now I am at peace with whatever happens because I feel we have a legitimate GM in place who is evaluating and has the decision making power. If he feels the Gruden/Cousins era is the best thing for 2016 then so be it.

I agree

Also, while the team has looked like Crap several times this season, they do seem to have more sprit and seem to be a bit more organized. I have actually noticed some improvement this year over previous years. Obviously there are still some pieces missing, but can see a possibility of this year's team actually reaching 8-8, which would be a moral victory if nothing else.

I'd take McDaniels only if he comes with Brady.
