Former teammate of Beck: "No touch on short passes. Not that great. No names please....He is no good. Great guy though."

Alright... we just CRUSHED John Beck for 2 hours for no reason. LOL.... literally for sport. Now I feel bad. ugh.
I'll take the word of AA, Fred Davis, Chris Cooley, Leonard Hankerson over a 'former teammate' that won't give his name.

Who the heck are the junkies anyway?

An unnamed source told me on good authority that the junkies unnamed sources are full of it.

Doesn't matter what anyone else thinks right now except for Shanahan, and he thinks Beck looks the part. We'll know soon enough who's right or wrong.

It'll be pretty funny if Beck gets cut before the season starts.

Amen to that!

This situation is the mirror image of the Colt Brennan situation. Here the coach wants Beck as the starting QB and some fans think Beck is a stiff. A couple of years ago, the coaches believed that Brennan was nowhere near good enough to play in a real game but some fans thought Brennan would be an All-Pro if only given the chance.

Coaches make decisions with regard to players. That is what they get paid to do...

Brennan would have been an All-Pro!!! He was never given a chance, Brennan was the 2nd coming of P. Ramsey (who also was never given a chance) and the 3rd coming of Johnny U. who got a chance and showed real moxie!!! <sarcasm font off>

Sorry to digress, couldn't resist.

On topic, I don't see Beck being the next Garcia, Plunkett, or T. Green. However, I don't make millions of dollars to make these calls and will, for now, trust in the guys who do. Also, I won't judge Beck right out of the gate, but, if he is sucking it up by game 6 and we have no one to replace him, I may be just a mite peeved.

Shanahan says he has a plan with Beck, fine. Given Beck's prior lack of production, I hope Shanny has a back-up plan as well.

He does. It's called retirement.

I don't have a problem with going to Beck but have a back-up plan someone like VY with a third qb in Pat Delvin.

Re: Redskins 2011 Starting Quarterback: John Beck?

Reading on SI.com last night and it said Kyle covets Matt Leinart who was in Houston last year in the same system he runs. I'll be ok with Beck, Rex, Leinart going into camp. We aren't spending big money on a FA QB so if that's what we roll with let's make the best of it.

Agreed. What other sensible options do they have?

Heck, why not? I still believe Leinart has the tools. I'm not upset at all at the fact of seeing Beck as the starter. It is going to be a very interesting 2011!

Yeah he's got the tools. For judging a beauty pageant in a hot tub. He has obviously shown in the various places he has been during his NFL tenure that football is obviously not first and foremost on his list of important things. I don't want that on my team.

Re: Redskins 2011 Starting Quarterback: John Beck?

I'll give Beck a chance and let him compete with Rex. May the best man win. I see alot of people asking for Vince Young, IMO, unless he received a brain-transplant over the offseason/lockout, he is just going to blow his stack and freak out the minute something goes wrong.

I've said it before and i'll say it again, I think Vince Young is a good person, a good man, and a very talented football player, HOWEVER, he is not mentally well at this point in time, and it is very selfish of anyone to ask him to play instead of get his health straightened out. Vince can be OK again but mental illness is not something to joke with. He needs help.

I really don't think Vince Young is mentally ill, not at all. Maybe he's been a bit insecure, but not mentally ill.
