Re: Current 2014 Free Agents

I have to agree with most of the posts here... I really like Orakpo... Yet we really didn't seem to miss him THAT much when he was hurt for 14.5 games in 2012... At least not enough for the price he is asking with the current state the team is in... We have a lot of holes and the money could be used to add a few players at positions of need, not just one where even have a serviceable back up that played well in Raks absence .. I'm torn, dunno what's gonna happen but I'd be sad to see him go regardless... Torn.

Re: Current 2014 Free Agents

Ideally Rak will be back at 8.5 per and Riley back at 3.25 per. That's bout their value. Add d'quell Jackson at 5.5 per, I'll be a happy camper

I think most of us would like that but both Rak and Jackson are virtually certain to get more than that. I also wouldn't be surprised if Riley gets $4.5 from the Skins because he's worth more to us than he is to other teams (we're very thin at ILB and he knows our system).

Jairus Byrd will be a Redskin. I will stake SmootSmack's reputation on it. (Or someone of equal value, like Jackie Chan........or Jackie Kennedy-Onassis)

Shameless self-promotion. It is what it is.

Looks like they will tag him if they can't complete the deal.

Good, it is what they should do. Do not really see an issue with that unless they plan on signing every big name free agent out there.

No. let him walk. He is not a top tier OLB. If they franchise him that's 11.4 mil (1/3 of the available cap) tied up on an average player. Where they could sign 2 capable free agents. The Skins are not in a position to overpay for a fair to good player that doesn't make big plays on a regular basis.

It is a one year deal. It won't impact them as much as a multi year deal would.

And going out and signing a bunch of free agents has proven to fail over and over again.

He is not elite but he is on a one year contract. It won't have a huge impact on any future plans they might have.

If it's for 1yr why do it?

Is this the Super bowl year?

Why commit to a one year 11+ million dollar contract when that money can be put into maybe 2 starters? If he thinks he can get 12 million a year, what do you do after this year when he is still demanding 12 mil. per, cut him then?

Like I've said before I'd love to keep the guy but he's misguided thinking he should be getting paid D.Ware type money.
So let me get this straight; you want to let our best defensive player, a guy who's proven he can perform at a high level on our defense, walk, while giving a huge contract to a FA safety who we don't even know would perform at a high level on our defense?

That sounds like a championship recipe to me.

The thing is though that he hasn't performed at a level warranting around 10 million a year. As I've stated a couple times before, he's someone I want to keep but only for the right price. His price tag could pay for a serviceable replacement like retaining Jackson, two new starting olinemen, and maybe even a replacement for Fletcher.

I definitely support tagging him and continuing to work on a long term deal.

Re: Current 2014 Free Agents

With potential cuts, wouldn't that give 20 million in space or even more for the Skins to use with the tag?

If they cannot make that work Allen deserves to be fired.

Httr24-7 saying the tag to Rak would be A Danny boy move, saying reaks of Dan still meddling. I personally wouldn't have a problem with it.
