Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
I would like to point out that Riverboat Ron was force fed Haskins on day one and Wentz in Season 3.
No way he took the job expecting full control, dude is here cashing check. |

Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
I disagree. I think he thought he was getting full control but quickly realized he had been lied to. Now he's cashing his check like every other coach Snyder lied to knowing he will be out of here soon.

Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
I don't think he was force fed Haskins. He made the best choice in his first year to see what first round pick Haskins had to offer in his system. I think it was the best choice, even though it didn't work out. Then he not only replaced him, but eventually released him. We all know Haskins was DS's pick, and by how he handled the Haskins situation, RR showed that he had full control in year 1.
I don't know if I'm buying the idea that Wentz was forced onto RR either. Maybe it is true that DS wanted Wentz, but it's probably more likely that the decision to bring him in was ultimately Ron's. I still don't think it was a bad move. It hasn't worked out well so far, but in my opinion that has more to do with the poor decisions with regard to the O-line, and the numbnut calling the plays. Honestly, not addressing the center position with Chase coming off a broken leg, and of course bringing in these two terrible guards to replace Flowers and Scherff were just dumb decisions, and the biggest reason this team has only (barely) won one game. |

Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
What Rivera has done to the OL is way worse than what we did at QB. If we had last year's line, Wentz would look better than he has. Our line is an abomination. And its 100% on Ron for fucking that up as bad as humanly possible.

Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
Even with a good offensive line I'm not sure it would help Wentz not lock in to one receiver.

Hes a low IQ qb imo. Plays like the one above happen way too much. He doesnt see the field, I dont think hes good at reading Ds pre snap, def not good at reading the field post snap. For a pass play to work, his first read needs to be open open. Hes just mentally slow. Turner must be frustrated. |

Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
I have admittedly been a defender of Wentz, but that was awful, not just an open receiver but the one guy he should always have eyes on. No wonder Terry is not getting many targets if Wentz is doing that. I am over Wentz as the solution now, but I don't think drafting a QB high in '23 will help if the rest of the team, particularly the OL doesn't drastically improve. If we have a top 5 pick they should be looking to trade down including an extra r1 the following year and other change. Get a good young CB and a couple of guards, roll with Wentz or Howell for '23.

Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
That was driving me nuts last night. He would lock in only see first or second read and for the most part he wouldn't even see one half of the field.

Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
i will say I enjoyed this effort by Wentz he flat out leveled Roquan Smith. IMO this shows me he still cares about winning and his role, just doesn't have the skillset unfortunately. How many QBs would put their shoulder into a LB? Most just stand there and dance in front of them before getting trucked.
