Re: Redskins vs. Jets game thread

Happy to be 5-3, we've got to get MUCH better over the next 4 weeks for December to matter.. If we play like we did today, the Eagles, Cowboys and Giants are going to blow our doors off..

Yep, happy for the win. Remember its the jets we played though. Your not going to run 75% of the time (just guessing) against the eagles.

They give me heart attacks, but remember this much: it doesn't matter how many points you win by, it's if you win.

Down 17 points and coming back to win showed a lot of heart. We need to see this the rest of the way out though. Every team we play, including Buffalo can't be taken lightly at all. Tampa Bay also will be a tough game being it is at Tampa. Minnesota also isn't going to be an easy game. On top of that we got the bulk of our intra divisional matchups. No more injuries and open the damn offense up and it could be a lot of fun to watch. Let's hope Gibbs lets it happen.

Re: Redskins vs. Jets game thread

Alright, I think I'm off my soap box for now.

We're 5-3 right now, and if we were told the SKins would be 5-3 in week 17 of last season, every one of us would jump and cheer.
I'm happy to be 5-3. We've gone through some growing pains, and I still feel we are a playoff team. All we need to do is play .500 ball from here on out and we are in the playoffs!!!!

It is a win in OT...against a team with a now 1 and 8 record... I'm not feeling we are near geling as a team yet. We need more sparks on offense ....Our WRs need to catch more TD's and deep passes.

We play to our opponants. With the exception of the Pats game, we have not lost by more than a TD. We have played 4 games with the deciding factor being 3 points. (we're 3-1 in those games) Just because we're not blowing teams away that have poor records doesn't mean anything. We're not that kind of team.

In case people haven't noticed, we'd be in first place in 3 different divisions, 2nd place in 2 others. 5-3 is a damn good record in the NFL today. Only 8 teams have a better record than we do! So I don't know about you guys, but my "frustration" is a little tempered by the fact that we are in fact winning. I think we are a better team than our 5-3 record reflects, and I think we can play a lot better, that's where my frustration is...but being 5-3 is nothing to sneeze at.

Re: Redskins vs. Jets game thread

While I agree the "game over" posts are nonsense after the first bad play--this site is a "forum" where opinions, whether rationale or not, are discussed. Should someone opine in a negative fashion that does not exclude them from being a "fan".

I, for one, am a member of the Warpath's "Pessimists Caucus". After 15 years, and two playoff wins--I am frustrated. And there is nothing wrong with that. It is mine and other "fans" right to feel this way. However, lumping all the "Kool Aid Caucus" as the "real" Skins' fans and suggesting bans for contrarian posters is perhaps the most ridicules (sic) opinion I have heard on this very competent site...

I disagree with you there.

Other than that good post.

We all share in your frustration, but does that warrent the "game over" comments when we're winning? I think not.
There is a big difference between being a frustrated fan, and being negative nilly. There are many more positive ways to display your frustration. IE: "The play calling is getting really annoying." No one complains about that kind of stuff. It's the "we suck" and "we will lose" comments that annoy the shit out of most of the real fans. Sorry if this offends some, but yes, to me there is a big difference between the real fans and the fake ones. Just go back through this thread and anyone that said "game over" or "we suck" are not real fans. Real fans don't quit on the team!!!

ps- Loyal fan since 1978!
