We've been waiting for the Commanders to strike in free agency for a middle linebacker. GM Martin Mayhew said today the answer might already be on the roster in Cole Holcomb.

My gosh. I'm hanging on to my recollection of my middle school English teacher telling us that "might" expresses a lower probability than "may"... (is it accurate btw? ^^)

I actually like Holcomb at WLB but to think that he's the answer at MLB is a joke.
So Davis, Holcomb + hopefully a rookie would be our starters.
Mayo, Hudson and a couple of UDFAs for depth ? That'll sure give nightmares to opposing Offensive Coordinators...

Here comes that sinking feeling again. For all those in favour of protecting a compensatory pick, is the 98th pick in the draft really worth having over a viable starter at MLB for 2-3 years. I am not so sure. They have not replaced the hybrid/ buffalo nickel position either. After last year Hudson is not an exciting prospect either

Ron once again calls out CY “last year was a wake up call for him, I’m excited to see him during the off season this year”

It sounds like Chase didn’t do Jack shit last summer… and it showed

I wonder if there is a chance Collins will resign with us? I haven't seen any reports about Collins talking to any team, so I bet that will make him to reconsider his wishes.

This is still TBD. Hopefully he's not a "generational" talent with a JaMarcus Russell work ethic.

Collins and his agent were not happy with the team when he was let go, so he will probably take a minimum deal anywhere but here to prove his point

Definitely has legs.

Rivera leaned into idea of Holcomb at MLB. Said post season eval and discussion reshaped the view of Holcomb's play and impact

Shuffling chairs on the Titanic.

Then we need a SAM linebacker. We have 2 guys that should start, to take-up 3 positions.

Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1

So we'll basically have three LBs learning new positions next year instead of finding a true MLB... Sounds like a plan.
