where in the hell did all the really scarey movies go? I need to have that feeling of watching "The Shining" for the first time again.

I don't think intelligently scary movies don't see the light of day and instead are twisted around and have mad gore added, which isn't a bad thing, but it can't make up for the lack of freshness and original ideas. I honestly can't remember the last time I actually felt terrified while watching a movie, but it was probably back when I was still wearing gi-joe underroos. Hollywood just seems incapable of combining a solid cast, script, and director/producer to bring it all together, it's always just one or the other or none of the above.

I'm not sure that any movie disturbed me as much as The Shining.

One of those few books that made an equally great movie.

The last scary movie I saw was "People Under The Stairs". Maybe it was the age, I watched it at, but DAMN that movie was insane.

I own it. The first hour or so was great (that title fit perfectly) but the end pissed me off too much because it's getting rather played out (don't want to ruin ot for people who haven't seen it because it's probably worth renting/netflixin').

I honestly liked the remake of The Amityville Horror. I think quick images that you barely catch and sound effects are what make a scarey movie really get under your skin. I though TAH used those really well, up until the end again.

The guy in that with no tongue went to my high school in the 80's. He was our graduation speaker (because he actually has a tongue in real life still). It was the shit!

I think my problem with the remake was, I knew just about everything that was gonna happen, so it wasn't as scary. And some parts were just ridiculous.

I agree Bohnzie. I just loved the scene with the little kid in the bathroom (that really doesn't sound right) and the girl standing behind Ryan Reynold's wife staring at them when they're getting shag on.
