It's from an old write up from the Hurricanes site, but the kid, apparently, was outstanding on special teams, which I know counts for a lot with our coaches.

With next year's 2nd looking like it will be no better than this year's 53... this trade doesn't hurt me if they got their guy at 35.

Look, we needed an LB, and this is the guy the coaches wanted. Drafting is NOT an exact science, to say the least. If this is the kid they wanted, I'm good with it.

As for the late rounds and undrafteds, we can make a lot up there, if we do a good job. That's where the scouts earn their money. Remember Joe Jacoby!

I totally agree with you... If this is what Coach Gibbs and Coach Williams wanted, then I'm 100% behind it. do you remember the days when Danny Snyder would jump in and say I want so and so , so pick him....? Glad they are over... I see this as a good pick. Its what the coaches wanted and they know what they are doing..

Who cares about the low draft picks, the Skins can't seem to pick any winners past the 2nd or 3rd round anyway.

That's not so bad--most other teams can't figure out the first three rounds. Thank goodness we didn't take Winslow Jr.

...and speaking of the late rounds, does anybody know whatever became of Manuel White? He's still on the team, right?

They did once, and I wouldn't be surprised if they do again. One thing Gibbs mentioned in his presser (up now athttp://www.redskins.com) is that they've added resources to the scouting department. But what about Lemar, Pierce, Evans, etc? In a system like Williams, he slots in a lot of guys and makes it work. Can't say about the Offensive guys (Molinaro, White, Nemo, etc.) because Gibbs doesn't very often go with rooks, and we have good depth at RB, for example. So I think the jury is still out on the CURRENT skins and the late rounds and undrafteds.

Re: Skins officially pick Rocky McIntosh

If we get just one good player tomorrow, that would be a success, IMO. We'll see. I think that we all get caught up in Kiper-style draft hype, and think that it's obvious how these things will work out. For every Samuels and Taylor, there's a Brady or Jacoby. And I think the strategy of relatively young (24-28) FAs is a much safer way to go, if you are a team willing to spend the dough. And god knows we are!

Re: Skins officially pick Rocky McIntosh

you know, theres a lot of players that snyder has wanted, that we didnt draft becuase of our other coaches, and he went and got them anyways... We had a bunch of early round busts before Gibbs got here and made a point of going after canes early and often

Re: Skins officially pick Rocky McIntosh

Devin Hester was a steal for the Bears. He could have been a top five corner or receiver if he played another year but needed the money for his family...
