Re: Jets interested in Betts?

if they offer something it isn't going to be something horrible. They need someone and they went out and said they wanted betts. We have the upper hand here so i expect something closer to what we want and further from what they want to give up. I am thinking a third but i wouldn't do it for a third.

Re: Jets interested in Betts?

This is just a hope for the J-E-T-S. All I have been reading is that Saunders loves Betts. I liked Betts and his consistency in college at Iowa and he'll be on the field more now. We're not trading him but the back up RB job is heating up with the rookies. Betts is our guy if anything happens to Mr. Portis.

Betts on Jets' radar
August 11
New York Daily News (scroll down): "With Curtis Martin's career in jeopardy, the Jets are eager to see if Derrick Blaylock and Cedric Houston can do the job. If not, they almost certainly will trade for a veteran. The Redskins' Ladell Betts has emerged as a possibility."

Re: Jets interested in Betts?

Saunders has expressed Betts to the media for praise.
Betts is the only brusiing back on the roster.
I doubt KCarter or Lumsden have moved up to a replacement type of role.
Rock couldnt carry the workload.
Betts is too valued, yet throw in Jacobs and what could we be shopping for?
Jets should have never let LJordan go.
Every team needs a quick speed guy and a short yardage bulldozing bruiser.
FB in Saunders ball dont really rush do they? Richardson didnt rush.
Craziest thing of all is that the Jets and Skins have been in bed for a long time.
Riggins, Monk, Thomas, Hall, Morton, Coles to and fro, moss, ramsey, blah blah

The Skins aren't the only team with a back too many. Why would the Skins breakup whats going on this is the funniest rumor I have heard. Trade for Vilma and go to 3-4 then were talking.

To answer MightyJoeGibbs' question, if we do package Betts and Jacobs in a deal do you suppose the Jets might send us this?

2) You do realize Joe Gibbs is the coach of the 'Skins right? He values depth soooo much. Rock Cartwright is alright at times, and Lumsden is looking good in camp, but in the end do you see Gibbs trusting the backup job to either of those guys? No way in hell.

3) Saunders LOVES Ladell Betts. He has said that Betts is capable of big things in this league, and compared his skill set to that of Priest Holmes (not a quality comparison, just a style comparison). Saunders has said that Ladell is a complete back, capable of running hard, catching passes reliably, and picking up blitzes consistently. He has also said that Betts and Portis have unique skill sets, and in certain situations, he'll put them both in the same backfield to create matchup problems with the defense.

Just pay attention to the coaching staff. There's no way they're trading this guy.
If we're talking about predictions, then I'd agree its unlikely a trade will be made. And I say that w/the confidence that we would ask for too much. But if the jets are desparate enough & offer us a starter w/a contract we can deal with, its definitely worth doing. I say that because I have a feeling betts will get some $ next year & it won't be w/us.
I hope he stays & re-signs w/us. Sure the coaching staff loves him, but they also have to deal w/the contract issue, something that Gibbs has shown he's willing to be fairly shrewd with, e.g. Pierce, Smoot, Coles, Lavar.

Thanks dude I enjoyed that. I want to see Lumsden begin to work his way into the rotation this year. The down side to his game seems he runs TOO upright and hes taller. Still this kid has that something I think that we want to have him do for us.
