As far as people turning on him, of course that could happen to anyone, Portis included. If he started bitching in the media fans would sour on him quickly. I'm not sure why that would be so surprising. That's life in the NFL and in sports in general.
I agree that fans can turn at any time, CP included but to say that LA, CP, or any other player is untradeable, unreleasable, etc. especially on a 3-6 team is just unrealistic.

I agree that in the grand scheme of things nobody is untouchable but under the current circumstances letting Portis go appears to be very unlikely.
