To me Brunell had the support but not the trust of the team. The D knew he was only in for three downs and played like they gave the same effort.

That will change with JC coming in.

You're not the only one who thinks that!

Scaled back, yes. But that doesn't mean short passes necessarily. It may mean more turnovers, but at least we get to see what we've got in Campbell. This is exciting, but it's the only trick Gibbs has left in his bag.

Campbell starting, and Duckett in line for more carries, if we weren't 3-6 I'd be jumping for joy.

I'm extremely elated. This is certainly the move I have thought was called for. I don't expect miracles from Jason, but maybe we can see a QB who will drop back, plant, and throw the football, enabling the offense to operate in a more fluid rythm. It's going to be a growing process, but I'll have more patience with a young QB making mistakes than an old vet whose time has come.

Why would Portis being out have an effect on his play? Portis's yards per carry aren't as good as Betts, the only problem there is Portis is a much better blocker picking up the blitz that could be the one area that would be cause for concern.

I actually think we're OK with Betts/Duckett. If it's one thing this front office did right, it was prepare for an injury to a running back or wideout.

If they're throwing Campbell to the wolves, and they have to see what he's got, then it would make no sense to keep the leash on him with 5 -10 yard passing patterns. Not only that, I think Saunders has had deep routes on all of his schemes -- Campbell's going to take chances like that anyway.

Long term I think you're right. I think the immediate future may be a bit (a lot) more conservative than fans want to accept.

I think between Betts,Duckett,Cartwright that situation is good. I understand he is accurate with his throws, a younger arm has definitely got to be stronger than what Brunnel has now, and he has the ability so scramble so that may help the running backs by forcing defenses to account for his scrambling ability.

More importantly is stopping the penalties, and defensively I would like to see
Mackintosh in at LB.

Re: Breaking News - JC to start Sunday

They asked if it was strictly Gibbs move...

He said yes, but it was tough one....Jason has been preparing for a 1 1/2 now, and it's his time.

Snyder might not have made this decision but he definitely is happy with it, Packed house to see campbell against the panthers in two weeks!!!!!!!!
At least it'll be something to be excited for, I definitely was not excited to see the eagles game.

Re: Breaking News - JC to start Sunday

Is anyone else really nervous that Campbell is going to come in and be really crappy, like Kyle Boller crappy? This isn't to say that I want Old Man Brunell out there anymore, because I really don't, but I'm starting to be very suspicious of most of the moves that the team has made the past few years in terms of player evaluation.
I'm worried that Gibbs might be wrong about Campbell, just like he was wrong about Brunell, and we'll have wasted so much time and effort on Campbell already.

Damn Redskins, they've scarred me for life.

Oh well, give'em hell Campbell!

Without Portis, with this D, and with this playcalling, I see Campbell having a bad outing in TB (180 yards, 1 TD, 3 INTs). Nonetheless, I'm happy.
