Re: Can we now officially call Romo a choke artist?
I assume his career playoff ability to be just a hair below his career regular season ability: pretty good.

I can't remember which of Parcell's QB commandments it was, but one was:
We don't need celibrities, we need generals. The Head Cheerleader and the Celebrity Quarterback came acropper tonight. Jerry Jones looking like Pickett at Gettysburgh is priceless. Circumstances seemed to have cleared a path through the wilderness for Old Man Farve.

Re: Can we now officially call Romo a choke artist?
If romo had come out and blew this game, I'd say we'd have a case to call him a choker, but that's not what happened. Not even close. He played well. Definitely well enough to win. It's not his job to catch passes or pass block. Or call the plays. How Garrett got away from running the ball in the second half, I'll never know. I'm supremely happy they lost, but I don't lay this on Romo. THe int was with 10 seconds left when he had to force it. At that point, he was counting on a receiver to make a play and, just as they had all day, they failed.

Re: Can we now officially call Romo a choke artist?
Regarding Romo and Simpson:
If his girlfriend was any anonymous woman, no one would have even cared that he was in Cabo. If anyone did find out they probably would've been happy because he took Witten and some other teammate along with him after being told by coach to get away from the game for a week. This b.s. is all smoke, no fire.

Re: Can we now officially call Romo a choke artist?
yeah, but how many of those incompletions were drops or throwing off his back foot because he had a Giant's Dlineman in his face. He was under duress the entire 2nd half after the giants wore down his o line. Don't get me wrong, he's still a douche but I don't think he choked.

Re: Can we now officially call Romo a choke artist?
Yeah but this isn't something you evaluate with numbers. Romo's career is so young, and he's played only two playoff games. So looking at stats obviously isn't going to tell you much. What we do know, though, is that Tony Romo has started off the last two seasons absolutely red hot, but then played like asscrack coming down the stretch. He's not a choke artist because of his playoff performances, he's a choke artist because:
1) His December performances have been awful. 2) Like Matty said, he was not acting one bit like a leader in the 4th quarter yesterday. He was bitching at his guys. He was panicking. He was playing frantically. There was no poise whatsoever, no confident calm to his demeanor. You can just tell by looking at the guy - he's a decent QB with decent talent - but he has no intangibles. He's got an unorthodox delivery and a gunslinger's mentality just like Brett Favre, but none of Favre's take-charge leadership. That doesn't reflect in the numbers, you can only see that by watching the game and paying attention to human behavior. So far in his young career, he's definitely a choke artist. He's got plenty of time to turn that around, but I honestly don't like his chances in the NEXT heat of the moment - he's just not a leader.

When TO is out you see exactly how vital he is to making Tony look a LOT better than he is.

Re: Can we now officially call Romo a choke artist?
TO is one of the best WR's of all time. If he misses any amount of time of course it's going to hurt the offense and the QB. If Randy Moss misses time in NE no way do they score as many points w/out him.

Right. But Brady can work with even crappy receivers...
