Re: Lipstick On A Pig
In my opinion, neither party invented, or has a monopoly on, lies, dirty tricks, etc. Sometimes one party tends to be a little better at lying, cheating, stealing etc. but both parties would steal candy from a baby if it meant their candidate would win the election.

Re: Lipstick On A Pig
Who are you talking to? Can't be me cause I never once said Obama slung anything. I said left.
ps- this thread is about the assumption that McCain slung from the right, and we all know that isn't true. It's an overreaction from the right. Left does not = Obama. Right does not = McCain.

Re: Lipstick On A Pig
There will be no end. The 2012 race begins on the Wednesday after the election and all this crap will basically continue. It started w/ Clinton and the Repubs hammering him about BS and it has continued w/ Bush and the Dems hammering him about BS. It is our political way now. The thought that either one of these guys is going to take residence in the Whitehouse and set forth to get everyone to work together and sing Kumbaya is laughable. There are too many scorched earth politicians and advisers in DC to ever let that happen again.
It is our system now. Sigh. |

Re: Lipstick On A Pig
It's naive and dishonest to assert that unless something comes from Obama it doesn't matter. Each side is now a massive political machine involving thousands of people who constantly work to discredit the other side. Most of these people can't even be controlled by the party leaders in any real way.
Bloggers sit behind a computer and throw bombs all day long. Think Obama or McCain can stop it? I doubt it. Every major politician has at least 4 or 5 senior advisors. Think those people just fall in line when a party leader says to do something? No. They are looking out for their own ass first then thier boss's and then maybe the party. All this crap has to end up in someone's lap. That's why even though Obama hasn't been the one out there throwing bombs about Palin it ends in his lap. Same for McCain. |

Re: Lipstick On A Pig
Silly Warpathers!
Politics is almost NEVER about issues! It's about picking a candidate that makes you feel good and then bickering about the other candidate! It's how we end up with really intelligent arguments like: "Obama called Palin a pig with lipstick!" "Bush looks kind of like a monkey...let's refer to him as 'Commander-in-Chimp'" "Obama called McCain an old dead fish!" "Obama's middle name is Hussein, same as Saddam's last name...see the connection?!" Politics is largely about ignorant people holding a position they don't understand and attempting to argue for it and against anything else. The general public is so ignorant about everything from economics to history to science to philosophy that the argument turns into name calling and funny pictures. I don't care if you're an evangelical or arguing for socialized health care, most people flat out don't understand the issues. The media (CNN, Fox, take your pick) has to have SOMEthing to talk about all day long, and this kind of immature bickering really appeals to the masses.

It really serves to highlight that, when all is said and done, all the anger, vitriol and hate is directed at one guy who's probably not really responsible for it anyway. It's a widespread system or machine, not one lone guy. That's why I maintain that the best thing for this country to do as a whole is put a lot more focus on the legislative and judicial branches than the executive branch. The executive branch so often gets reduced and simplified to one man. This country is about a LOT more than one guy sitting in the Oval Office.

I'm highly suspicious when anyone has blind faith in the right OR the left. The hypocrisy and immaturity on both sides seems so blatant to me, I don't see how anyone can stick their neck out and not see the massive flaws in both.

Yup it is so true! We are not electing the king of England here. There are many other moving parts, people just get so stuck on one person to blame or praise.
