Re: Redskins Mt. Rushmore
Im going to go with Monk, Darrell Green, Pat Fischer, and Mr. Jack Kent Cooke, God rest his soul.
Maybe the boy king should take a page out of Mr. Cooke's playbook. Let real football men take care of the team. |

Re: Redskins Mt. Rushmore
Jack Kent Cooke is the legend no doubt, but, and I don't know, cuz I really only know the 70s(mid-late) and beyond, but I doubt JKC just bought the team and then went hands off, he probably had a similar learning curve, albeit in a different era and different salaries, but every owner learns, and Dan Snyder is absolutely learning.

Cooke hired Beathard. Snyder his yes-man, Cerrato. The difference is Super Bowls.

Re: Redskins Mt. Rushmore
Very cool post...somehow I've missed it until now. Well I guess I'll be the first to name this guy:
Joe Theismann - When I was growing up, he was my hero...because he was the QB of the Washington Redskins....there was no better job in the world or more important job as far as I was concerned. Joe Gibbs - The coach of the most important team in the world to me...although it would be years before I really realized how special he really was. Darrell Green - Absolutely my favorite player of all times...for obvious reasons...one of the few players in the league that truly got how special it was to be a Washington Redskin and NFL player, and it used it to help other people...even if he was a little boastful in the process Santana Moss - My favorite modern day player....I can't even tell you why, but I love this guy...maybe it's because of the Monday Night Cowboy killer game, or maybe it's his little First Down shimmy he does...but I just love to watch this guy. It's hard to limit this list to four....I could easily make it 30. |
