Wow. I hope Roydell Williams or DJ Hackett can make the squad. They are not the flashiest option but they can be solid #2 or #3 wrs. I like the effort to upgrade our passing game.

I agree. It is very smart to not count on the draft picks and Thrash as starters/depth. None of them should be looked at as a contributor at this time.

I am wondering how close they are to giving up on Kelly. Does he even deserve a roster spot if this thing lingers into August and September?

I really can't stress how baffling this mentality is to me. You don't give up on young players after one injury. He has done the things necessary (microfracture surgery) to correct it and now give the kid a chance to perform in camp before ending his tenure with the team.

Some of you guys whine like little b*tches about not building thru the draft and trading away draft picks and blah blah blah but are so quick to pull the trigger on one of those draft picks after one season and one partial offseason. Amazing.

It's just retarded.

This isn't one injury. How many surgeries has he had on the same knee, is it two, three or more? (just with us, not counting college). It doesn't worry you that he has as many surgeries as catches? And I can see why you are baffled because you were unable to understand the point in the post even though you highlighted it. Let's try again, IF THIS LINGERS INTO AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER HOW LONG DOES HE DESERVE A ROSTER SPOT? That was the question.

Building through the draft is essential but picking guys who have major knee issues in college seems to be pretty stupid but we continue to do it. We did it with Rocky and he has proven that he can't play at his highest level for a whole season. Then we draft Kelly and all he has proven is that James Andrews will never get bored. I have not given up on Kelly but if he is a ghost in the pre-season again because of knee injuries, I say toss him or at least IR him (which was idiotic not to do last year).

It's one injury. He hasn't injured the knee multiple times, it's been swelling and cartilage. He's had 2 surgeries on it (as a Redskin) and is recovering on schedule. If it lingers into August and September then depending on the projected recovery he deserves a roster spot until proven that he won't be able to contribute at any point during the season. Read the post immediately above your last one for his direct comments, not JLC speculation.

O.k. how about they aren't good enough or they don't produce enough or they aren't healthy enough. Maybe not super smart enough or core Redskin enough?

Take your pick.

Looks like we just signed Roydell Williams. Maybe Zorn is gonna try a 5 wide out offense this year?

What happened to him last year? Didn't he have a bad injury that kept him out all season?

He broke his ankle and the end of the 2007 season. Titans drafted Kenny Britt so I guess Williams became expendable...

Roydell had good games (2-3 games I can remamber) in 2007 when Young was the QB and would have been even better passing stats if Vince Young hadn't run so often. I am confident though that our young rookies will step and compete with Roydell and Hackett instead of seeing this move as giving up on Kelly &/or Thomas.

I wonder how much Sherman Smith pushed for this signing, he must know him from their days together in Tennessee right?

I wonder if we can bring all these guys in because we are the first to have veterans into camp and other teams will try and have them in and sign them also. It just seems weird that we seem to be the only ones who are getting all of these solid veterans come in.

Roydell Williams is a pretty inspired signing. Even if he doesn't end up making the team, I like the direction that this is going in.
