Re: Should Snyder listen to his players?
I disagree. I think an effective leader needs to communicate to his employees better, one way or the other.

Re: Should Snyder listen to his players?
I am actually kind of surprised and quasi impressed that Snyder hasn't thrown Zorn out on his ass by now. Sure that is a function of there not being anyone who could step into the HC role but you would think that manchild Snyder wouldn't even think it that far through. He is doing the right thing, getting through this season and then in the offseason, get rid of Zorn and rebuild. Hopefully he will stop making personnel decisions like bringing in Hall, Smoot, Archuleta, Lloyd, Randle El, list goes on and on.

Re: Should Snyder listen to his players?
Come on now, why would Snyder give a rat's ass what the players think? For the most part, are they playing to their potential? Are they actually earning the ridiculous amount of $$$$$ Snyder is paying them to entertain us? Snyder is a business man, a very shrewd, and successful one at that. He can't lose even if the team sucks and the blame isn't on Snyder or the team. A bunch of it is with the crazyass fans that keep buying season tickets for this never ending soap opera of a football franchise. What is it, a 5 year waiting list? Shoot, all the present season ticket holders could cancel out for 2010 and they all will be replaced ASAP. THE NFL is a business and bieng that, is market driven. When you have people acting irrationally by gobbling up season tickets and merchandise for a bad football team, it obscures normal market proceedings. With the shrinking of the Skins revenue market in the mid 90's with the Ravens and Panthers divying up the once huge Skins TV market share, Snyder pretty much has maximized the profits all he can. You can say that winning the SB would boost sales, but by how much? Thing is Snyder and Jones have found out that keeping their team in a state of chaos keeps interest flowing. They hook the duped fans with new coaches, stud FA acquisitions, etc. Snyder actually outdid Jones in this aspect with bringing Gibbs back, with limited success. Bottom line is these guys know that it is all really nothing more than "bread and circuses" to amuse the masses with, and most of the folks that do attend the games know that deep down as well. That is why you will never have a fan "strike" or mass protests. The reason that is has had some mild success in Detroit with nobody showing up to games is more economic than actual protest.

Re: Should Snyder listen to his players?
Snyder doesn't have to listen to anybody. His formula has made the Washington Redskins the most valuable professional sports franchise how many years now? Snyder trades off with his buddy Jones like every other year. Hell the Skins are worth more than Manchester United!!!!!

Re: Should Snyder listen to his players?
Snyder should tell his players to listen to the coaches. Also, Snyder should tune in to 106.7 and listen to the LaVar Arrington sports talk show. You can tell that LaVar is my favorite Redskin, even though he doesn’t play anymore. In fact, Portis should listen to LaVar’s show also.

LaVar fired his assistant for not having the car warmed up for him at 6:00AM.

Re: Should Snyder listen to his players?
Might be a little off topic but i wasnt sure this belonged as an individual thread. Got this forward from a redskins fan whose a friend of mine...sent it to redskins organization. funny thing is that this comes after everytime i talk football with him he seemed faithful in the skins. It was directed to snyder:
Couldn't take it any more so this went to Dan Snyder's email police this morning. I'm sure he'll never see it, but I feel better adding to the pile of complaints I understand they are being pounded with. Dan, I am 44 years old and a life-long Skins fan since I began going to games at RFK in the early 70's. I gave back my season tickets a couple years ago and am finding it harder and harder to enjoy the team you have made a mockery of. I drove to Minneapolis for the Super Bowl win and regularly drove from Philadelphia where I now live to attend Skins games. Gone is the intimidating but classy feeling in the arena that existed at RFK, replaced now by a dis-jointed bunch of drunks screaming "hey you suck" over and over again... even when we're behind in games and doing all the sucking. What a joke and what a shame. You may be able to buy material objects like our beloved football team, but no amount of money will buy back class in your stadium or the raucous but family-like environment that previously existed there under the Cookes. The parking is a horror show, but you don't care as you collect more $. You and Cerrato, who is an absolute clown, should have the class to look in the mirror and take responsibility for the meddling and poor decision making, rather than continue to push the blame onto the next convenient scape-goat. Norv Turner, a Cowboys product, for 7 long years? Great decision, really in touch with football and the fan base, Dan. Randel El for that cap number. Please. The reality is I can live with ups and downs, I've gotten used to it. I can no longer ignore the grotesque decision making that you have no business being a part of... moving the band into exile was a stroke of genius, Dan. More seats, more cash for Dan. Thanks, Dan. Taking the play calling from the head coach is the perfect example of your selfish, short-sighted megalomaniacal ownership style. Jim Zorn should have turned in his playbook and revealed you for the inept, little rich twerp that you are. Again, you can buy the team but you'll never buy class until you hold yourself accountable and recognize your strengths and weaknesses; hopefully for all our sake you grow up some day and give us back the great franchise that you continue to make the laughing-stock of the league. |

Another fired up fan with a lot to say, but not much that makes any sense.

Re: Should Snyder listen to his players?
Why is it so non-sensical? He's saying the game day experience has changed, management is out of touch with fans, and it makes poor decisions. Dude give examples for all of it. Okay maybe calling Norv a cowboy product for being the OC is a bit much.

Re: Should Snyder listen to his players?
On today's fox pre game show, Jay Glazer mentioned that Snyder DID NOT endorse Zorn for the rest of the season, only Vinny.

The term grotesque. It speaks volumes about this situation.
