That really would be the embodiment of every mistake the Redskins used to make. Trade the house for a guy who 1) isn't really all that good, and 2) would take the place in the starting lineup of someone who the team invested a lot in just two years ago.

Re: Dream Draft

Here's a kiper thought on Sam Bradford to the Skins I just read.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kiper's Mel BagThe Giants' first pick, a QB for Carolina, Bradford to the Skins, Tebow and moreEmail Share By Mel Kiper

I couldn't get to the -- literally -- thousands of questions that filled the mailbag, but I tried to hit a pretty wide range here, from questions about possible inconsistencies in where I have guys rated to direct personnel needs to why the Giants could somehow land a running back in Round 1. And yes, I even explain why Tim Tebow could land in the second round. (Not that he belongs there, but hear me out.)

Anyway, on to the 'bag.

Q: For much of the season, you had Jimmy Clausen as your No. 4 prospect on the Big Board, ahead of Sam Bradford. But then you have the Skins taking Bradford with the No. 4 pick. I realize the Skins have mismanaged the draft for years, but they have done fairly well in the first round. Are you projecting the Skins to make a mistake by taking Bradford, or do you just think he's the guy who will fit well with Mike Shanahan?

-- James (Washington, D.C.)

A: The reason I projected Bradford to land with the Redskins at No. 4 has nothing to do with where he had been rated. I should be clear on this: It's my assumption that his shoulder will check out well, and based on what I've heard, I've actually moved him just ahead of Clausen on my board. All things equal, I think Bradford is the better player, and I even had him as the top player on the board last year. So I put him there with the belief that he'll be fine.

The early reports we've gotten say he'll be fine, and he's consulted with Dr. James Andrews. His draft grade now reflects what we're hearing. So it's really a case of assuming where I believe he'll be. The Big Board is a week-to-week thing. Bottom line is he's an exceptional talent and would be a fit for the Redskins at No. 4. I also could note that Clausen had toe surgery and won't throw for a while too, but I think he'll recover just fine.

I really wish that these mock drafts would focus on what the teams actually need. I know that the Redskins have had a HORRIBLE draft history , but all these mock drafts (including now) start with "Dan Snyder likes to draft QBs..." or "Since Snyder tried to get rid of Campbell last year..."

Honestly, I wish one of these mock drafts would say something along the lines of "The Redskins had a horrible offensive line, and while they will probably go QB, they SHOULD take a tackle."

Re: Dream Draft

Smootsmack, since you work with ESPN, can you ask Kiper and McShay why the Skins fans should want Bradford since some say Bradfords in a QB friendly offense. Also can you ask Kiper if he's jewish, yes I know its a random question but my neighbor and I were having this debate about him being jewish, but my neighbors reasoning says he looks like a lawyer, so therefore he must be jewish which I say has nothing to do with that, but to end this debate would you ask him that aswell. Thank you.

Kiper's been pretty public about why the Skins fans should want Bradford. Intelligent, accurate, underrated arm, etc. I think McShay has said similar stuff, can't recall right now. I never see Kiper, McShay I haven't seen since CFB ended.

He's Jewish because he looks like a lawyer? Interesting...

Kiper is a Polish Catholic, raised in Baltimore.

Re: Dream Draft

Bradford is the most commonly referred to choice. But don't discount the possibility that he'll take a QB in the 4th or 5th round to develop. Someone who's stock has plummeted this year, yet at his best has shown the abilities to be someone Shanahan can mold into a top QB in a couple of years.

No question the Redskins are drafting a QB, no guarantee it will be in the first round.
