Also if we had game planned to deal with the Ravens defense and had CP in the game as he would be in the regular season the running game may not have been so aenemic. His blitz pickup and understanding of the MS run philosophy is much more advanced then LJ.

Easy on the downtrodden Rex talk. For God's sake it's the guys birthday.
Crap, how is anyone going to be able to run on that defense? With a healthy Ngata, Cody, and Ray Lewis it seems damn near impossible.

It's possible that I'm just trying to stir the pot on an unlikely quarterback controversy, but I would never admit it if I were.

No. Gus is just Gus whereas Bartel is the greatest Skins QB ever from Tarleton State.

Re: Smoot Lays The Smack Down-Redskins vs. Ravens (Preseason Special)
I only watched the first half of the game because I was out of town, but...
Donovan McNabb had a very uneven performance from what I could tell. As it's been mentioned already, he underthrew/overthrew a couple of gimmies that should have gone for touches. I think/hope it's a timing issue he'll get down before the season starts. But honestly I think that's McNabb being McNabb. He's not going to make a ton of mistakes, but he'll miss a few easy deep ones; We should be prepared for that. He'll throw a few dirtballs that will make Philly fans glad he's not there anymore, but he's the type of quarterback that will compensate in other ways too. That said, anyone who thinks this guy isn't a clear upgrade over Jason Campbell are fooling themselves. Larry Johnson not only looked slow and uncertain, but uninspired. I just don't sense any fire from this guy. He wasn't hitting the hole with any, well, confidence. Clinton Portis moved the chains and he moved blitzing linebackers. Ink CP as the starting running back on opening day. I'm not writing Larry Johnson off by any stretch but, my god man, act like you want to wear the Burgundy and Gold. I think the defense as a whole is still feeling their way around Hasslet's system. I think we'll see a bend but don't break defense this year. We'll give up some big plays here and there, but they'll make some crucial stops, ala D.Hall, when we need them. Albert Hayneswoth. Where do I begin? So I'm at the beach for a few days and I'm not getting ESPN, no Blackberry, nothing. Just chillin. So I grab today's Post just to see what the final score of the game was and the first two articles my eyes land on was one from Sally Jenkins and another by Jason Reid and Maske. I didn't even realize the fat turd suited up. I thought he had a sore pinky finger or something. You know, I was hoping after the shuttle drill saga the Haynesworth v. Shanahan thing was going to blow over, right? Why is it always something with Haynesworth? I'm so over him and so over the media talking about his every move. He's so incredibly arrogant and unprofessional that it blows my mind. I really, really wish we would just eat that $21 million and call it day, because surely there will be something else he'll be bitching and moaning about. Skins go 10-6 this year. |
