Re: Jay Gruden you are our only hope

RG3 could have been developed properly and still can. But until we decide that actually developing a QB is more than signing DJ, it wont matter. And will people stop talking about Colt McCoy's performance against Dallas as anything spectacular. We scored 19 against the Titans and 20 points against Dallas, a worse defense than we scored 26 on the very next week with RG3. Colt loses the minny game as well. The defense showed up against both the titans and cowboys. Surprise.... Defense matters. RG3 had a bad game against the Bucs, but if we cut everyone that had a bad game against the bucs, then the only members of the Redskins organization that is left is Alfred and the cheerleaders. |

Alfred and the cheerleaders sounds excellent to me! Lol I completely hear what you are saying. I know that you think he isnt being developed. What I am saying is that regardless of his athleticism I dont think he has it in him to ever be anything even remotely resembling Joe Montana. What I am saying is that no matter who we bring in to develop him he is what he is. A supreme athlete that will never be a great or even really good passing qb. Maybe one day he will shock me whether it is as a Redskin or not. Who knows? My only point about Colt was that he seemed to have a feel for the offense once he got rolling. I dont think he is the long term answer by any means. If he had Roberts arm strength well than.... I disagree about our inability to develop a qb. It just has to be the rite one. Ramsey, JC - it isnt like they left the Skins and excelled. Who else are we talking about? Brunell - dudes best years were behind him. Jon Beck? Lol. With Robert we finally had a top pick and used it on a qb. He simply isnt what we hoped imo. Huge blunder but one we had to take a shot on. It isnt working. Its that simple. Sucks, but it is what it is. Im wanting to eat crow man. Im starving for a big ole crow sandwich! |

Seriously? Both of you? How is it Jay's fault that he was strapped with a shit DC leftover from Shanny's regime? How come he's overridden on QB calls on who to play? Why is Gruden getting the blame for Robert's progress? Maybe Jay is teaching him, but he isn't learning shit? Drama returns to Redskins Park - Washington Redskins Blog - ESPN Quote:
He's being taught properly. It's the QB not doing what he's supposed to do which is the problem. I will agree with you Matty that Jay probably shouldn't be this upfront in his press conferences. He should take notes from BB on how to do them.

Jackson should have had 300 yard 3 td game. In any world but Redskins world you would get benched for playing this basic. RG3 is a dud, no sense in standing by him.

No gotta disagree Gruden can't keep discipline in his team, and he doesn't seem to be capable to making adjustments to improve the team's play. He seems to think that all he needs to do is tell his players to do something and they'll do it. This unending drama would have never happened under Gibbs I don't think Gruden is the long term answer as head coach (3 seasons and out I think) |

And Cousins. How do you explain him throwing countless INTs? Is he being careless, sure. But his coaches sure didn't make a positive impact. This crap can't all be on Griffin. It's systemic. Gruden needs to show why he was hired and take this team by the balls and lead it. Like really lead it. He needs to be acting like Bill Parcells if someone pissed in his coffee.

Re: Jay Gruden you are our only hope
I guess I don't see the point in "moving past" Rg3 at this point with the 2 years left on his contract. There isn't (as far as I know) a can't miss guy in the draft, so if they just bring someone else in, it's going to be the same exact problem that every QB we've had for the last 20+ years has had. Until they build the Oline up, we'll continue to suck.
Not saying RG3 isn't a problem right now; but until they invest in the line it will be the same story.

You bring in someone who runs a pro style offense. Like Colt did once he shook off the rust against Dallas. No reason we cant bolster the oline thru free agency and the draft. Oh and by bringing in an oline coach who has a clue. Instead though Snyder will stubbornly let this ship sink while he tries desperately to make Rg-3 the qb of the future. Typical DS crap thats been plaguing us for years. We need to bring in a real GM and give him absolute control over everything football. |

Re: Jay Gruden you are our only hope
Everyone says upgrade the OL yet we have 3 3rd rounders sitting on the bench. How about we use them and find out if they can play.

Re: Jay Gruden you are our only hope
The reason I titled the thread "Jay Gruden you are our only hope" is because I think Gruden has what it takes to win long term, if and only if, he has the balls to make hard decisions (Griffin, Haz, etc). I hope he does, if not, it will be the same thing year after year. Haz is a huge issue with me, he has never had a top defense, by any stat (not just yards)
As for Allen – I have no idea if he or Shanahan is responsible for the roster; I am not sure anyone not in the room really does. I do know we started to address the Oline the last 2 years, so I am willing to wait on another year or two to see if we keep our own drafts or not (Riley, Robinson, Kerrigan, Amerson) and see if any of the O line drafts replace vets in the next year or two. I guess I am saying I am willing to give Allen three years of him running the show to see how it plays out. I am not saying I am optimistic, I am not saying I am not; I just want to see what happens. At least Special Teams continues to get better (minus Forbath) As to the Apocalypse Now quoter.....yes this thread is a Star Wars quote. |
