The formula for success is simple: Build offensive line, build the defense. We have enough at the skilled positions for it to all fall in place.

It's not that simple - that's like saying, just build the roster and go win.

We need a little retooling on the O line. Can AK or Nsechke play LG? We need an upgrade there. We need to resign at least one WR and that is banking on Doctson panning out. D is the real project. A starting FS, safety depth, NT (if we stay in a 3-4; not sold on that), and at least one more DE, preferably two. I wonder whether we have Murphy beef up again and play DE and hope that Gillette can get healthy (may be a pipe dream to think we actually get something out of him). I think we need MLB help too. And CB depth. Hopefully, with better play up front, Breeland can have a better season (and Norman too). But a LOT of work to do on D.

Make sure a dinged up Reed was covered tight and you can do it all day. You can be sure the rest of the league has taken some notes and the numbers Cousins put up this year will never be repeated.
The key to stopping any team is make them one dimensional and pressure the QB. It's not some magical solution to just beat the Redskins and Cousins.

Yeah I'm not sure who set up the progression of his reads but idk how he looked at Mo Harris before he looked at Crowder running wide open in the end zone. Crowder should have his trust already.

Re: Off season begins.

Djax is gone, no chance we pay him big $$ for basically a one trick pony. Harris will be a good WR esp possession guy. Crowder is a lethal slot guy and Doc will be back next yr.. The one time he played he caught a deep ball which showed his speed.. Reed and Davis will be back as will CT.. We will be just as good on offense, need to use DJAX money on our defense and some OL depth.

I definitely see us addressing more help at RB and bringing in someone at LG. But the coaching staff needs to address the run game approach.
I agree coaching staff needs to commit to the running game a lot more. But run blocking has to be reliable in order to do that.

It's hard to commit to the run when you hardly get 2y a carry. I know stat is way better than 2y/carry BUT it hasn't been there on a consistent basis.

If the O Line blocked as Well in the running game as they did in the passing game we wouldn't have this discussion.

Re: Off season begins.

We were a soft one dimensional team on offense and our defense is severely undermanned and led by an inadequate defensive coordinator.
For years we had Vinny Cerrato and Snyder running the the team into the ground. We finally corrected. Now for years we have had a series of inadequate defensive coordinators. Move #1 this offseason is fire our D Coordinator and hire a solid experienced one like Wade Phillips. Then #2 get rid of McVay and hire Norv Turner, a supebowl winning O Coordinator that understands running the ball and being balanced.
I trust our GM to do his job as long the owner and head coach stay out of the FO personnel decisions.
Most importantly defense win championships. We have to commit to rebuilding the defense that be physical and stout up front. Stopping the run and running the ball are the basics that all good teams have to do well. We do neither.

Fuck him.
I agree, but was just asking about the play on the ball. Just seemed like he got beat to it, didnt step into the pass whatsoever or even try to last ditch effort knock it down

Kirk got greedy and trusted his Arm to make the play, he should have ran the ball for a few yards..

Yeah I know. I would have to see it again, but I think it will be a loooong time before I can watch that. Lol. Even if he did though it really doesn't matter. You cannot throw that right there for any reason whatsoever. But we all know that.

If mcvay leaves he leaves, he's a decent OC but his play calling is sub par at best.

I remember plenty of folks saying the same about Kyle when he was here.

Truth is both guys are very good coordinators. Our offense was 3rd in total yards, 2nd in passing yards, 12th in points, we did a lot of good things and McVay deserves a lot of credit in that.
