Ah, here we go: Greg Manusky Record, Statistics, and Category Ranks | Pro-Football-Reference.com

In his best season he was mediocre at BEST. If you look at some of those teams, there is a shit ton of defensive talent it looks like he got nothing out of.

Jat Gruden had better get this next DC hire right or he may be the next coach out the door.

Just read an article that says that's basically the threat. If you can't hire the right staff how can you be trusted to lead a team?

Re: Gruden fires defensive coordinator Joe Barry

- No second chance guys (Manusky)
- No unproven up-and-comers
- No a-holes (Rex Ryan)
- Don't over-think it. Just hire the best there is - Wade Phillips.

You and me both, brother.

If it's Gus Bradley I'm happy, if it's Manusky I'm pissed. But if it's Wade then I'm ecstatic.

The Redskins are a billion dollar franchise. For this, we hired an incompetent coordinator (Barry) with a long history of losing -- just because he's buddies with the head coach? And somehow surprised things didn't work. The D-coach is a big decision, frankly if Gruden chooses Manusky, I'd put Gruden on the hot-seat for next year. Tired of losing because of bonehead moves like this.

Don't worry. If Jay Gruden screws up this hire, he's as good as gone by the end of next season. Guaranteed.

On the contrary, giving Gruden another chance to start over on the defense tells me Bruce and/or Scot really likes him. If this next season totally goes to shit Gruden could be fired I suppose, but if it's just the defense that's bad and his offense is still playing well I would bet anything he and his D coordinator will be back for another year. Going further, this makes me more optimistic we get a long term deal done with Cousins. Bruce/Scot will want to give their coach his guy at QB

I'm not sure about Bradley coming here?

First he's only as good as his talent. So like Barry he can't turn chicken feed into chicken salad. Granted when he did have talent his defense was on point. And McCloughan did construct his best units so they may rekindles their defensive wizardry if they reunite.

Second I have heard he plans on following Anthony Lynn, wherever he goes, to be his DC:

We still have Wes Phillips on staff with the tight ends...

Re: Gruden fires defensive coordinator Joe Barry

It's about damn time! It's a positive that Gruden wants to blow up the entire defensive coaching staff.....Perry Fewell was probably fired because the secondary as a whole greatly underperformed...... I'm looking forward to the Redskins hiring the new DC and I'm anxious to know what coaches he will add to his staff.....
