Oh yeah. . . Here we go:

He's on the Ravens PS, I think we should snatch him. I know he's not a tackle, but maybe Scherff could bounce out to Tackle temporarily? That's a terrible idea, but I liked him. Maybe Clemmings is better and that's why the signed him instead.

Edit: I don't remember a backup coming in and flopping since Callahan. Has there been anyone?

I think Kouandjio was really solid when he came in. So was Nsekhe.

Don't forget about Roullier, he's shown some potential during preseason.

IIRC we also kept a guy named Catalina who can play pretty much anywhere in the line.
I was surprised we kept him over Kouandjio, so he must be pretty promising.

Seems like Callahan can turn any guy into a decent starter.

Washington Redskins need Josh Doctson to build on catch vs. Raiders - Washington Redskins Blog- ESPN

Sounds like he is finally healthy...really like to see him start.

Re: Redskins vs Chiefs Pregame Thread

Don't think Kouandjio ever "ball out." Rather, he was a guy who lots of people liked b/c he had (1) a good pedigree; and (2) was described as a mauler. Ultimately, when given a shot due to Luavo's injuries, AK was just "okay" and never really got better. At best, he is a back-up guard who never demonstrated the athleticism/versatility to play tackle or center.

I really liked him coming out. However, he had his shot and never stepped up.

Re: Redskins vs Chiefs Pregame Thread

lets build on that defensive intensity that we played with sunday. the chiefs play simple andy reid west coast offense. living on the short passing game. we have to able to get their playmakers on the ground, once they catch the ball. and try to be as physical as allowed. i think our offense will be able to move the ball. but getting six, instead of 3, is a huge key

Agree...I think tackling on the outside by corners and safeties will be huge. Our corners have been up to the task so far this year.

Kirk's wife might have gone into labor yesterday afternoon. Hope everything goes well.

"Good luck," Jay Gruden shotued at his quarterback as Cousins raced out of the team's facility in order to get to the hospital.

Bottom line, I don't care who the other team is - New England, KC, Atlanta - we play like we did Sunday night, we win.

Question is "Can we play like we did Sunday night on a consistent basis?" I sure as hell hope so b/c that would make for a damn fine season.

Re: Redskins vs Chiefs Pregame Thread

Hill and Hunt are the real deal. A bit raw but still explosive. This is a different kind of offense than the Raiders in that it doesn't necessarily look to grind away in order to set up the deep ball. They have playmakers and Smith's job is to get it to them.

Carr was the engine that drove the Raiders offense. Hill and Hunt fill that role with the Chiefs. Need to shut them down hard which means lane/assignment discipline by DL/DB's, solid tackling, and a patient offense that scores in the RZ.

Tough row to hoe, but, after Sunday night, anything is possible.

Re: Redskins vs Chiefs Pregame Thread

if we were to beat the number 1 (some might say 2) team in the power rankings, I bet we would move up at least 2 spots!!!

But seriously, KC is a true Andy Reid team - solid across the board, knows how to win in the regular season and takes a solid, no slacking, performance by even good teams to win.

This will be a tough game, and likely a loss, but the Skins seem up to the challenge. In the end, I give Reid the edge over Gruden on clock management, and Smith the edge over KC on Redzone performance.

That's some damning commentary right there. He was reviled in Philly for his poor game management skills:

Quote:
Andy Reid manages the game clock like a monkey manages its feces… improperly, inappropriately timed, and just way too hands-on.

To say his clock management skills are abysmal is the understatement of his regime – it’s literally his biggest flaw as a Head Coach. And this is universally known.

Andy Reid just can’t help himself. If there is a timeout to be wasted or a time-sensitive drive to be stretched out over seven minutes, he’s going to find a way to do it. It’s happened plenty of times in the past, and it happened once again in the Chiefs’ depressing 18-16 loss at the hands of the Steelers.
Andy Reid still doesn’t know how to manage a clock, and it cost the Chiefs another playoff game | For The Win

Reid is definitely one of the worst HC’s when it comes to clock management, perhaps the absolute worst. Edge to Gruden for sure and that’s not giving credit to Gruden, Reid is just comically bad.

We may see the worst of all time then. I still put Gruden below Reid, he just hasn't had as many opportunities to show off his "talent"

Re: Redskins vs Chiefs Pregame Thread

I felt like Gruden has been doing a decent job of time management this year, it feels like most games we keep our timeouts until the end of the half. Reid is definitely worse.

Re: Redskins vs Chiefs Pregame Thread

I can just see it now ... crucial drive near the end of the game. Both teams call a time out after several critical seconds waste away. Unsure of which team is being charged the time-out, both Gruden and Reid call a second time-out, causing each team to be assessed a technical foul, which off-set. Each side calls ANOTHER time-out to make sure that they can discuss the play. ... This goes on until both teams have wasted their full complements of time outs.

The team on offense then calls an off-tackle run good for one-yard.
