Twitter: Exposing idiots since its creation

This should be the new Twitter motto.

She's the same twat that reported this:

Jay Gruden vehemently denies report by ESPN’s Britt McHenry - The Washington Post

well deserved and she should be fired. I understand getting frustrated with a tow company, but dont understand how anybody with a conscience could get so personal with someone.

And did anybody hear an apology? I didnt.

Re: All things off season 2015.

I've been towed by that same company. I work out at Golds in Ballston. Left my lights on one night, came out at 1030p and couldn't move my car. They didn't care. At 1105p they're towing your ass. In this part of town they're relentless about it. You can't illegally park...anywhere. But it never occured to me berate someone like that. To me that's a character flaw. I paid the fine and one of the tow guys jumped my car. Not a big deal. The person behind the counter had nothing to do with her getting towed. She's embarrassed herself and looks like a upity, classless bitch.

Re: All things off season 2015.

Her apology, issued yesterday:

Quote:
Britt McHenry · @BrittMcHenry; 16th Apr 2015 from TwitLonger

In an intense and stressful moment, I allowed my emotions to get the best of me and said some insulting and regrettable things. As frustrated as I was, I should always choose to be respectful and take the high road. I am so sorry for my actions and will learn from this mistake.
Mind you the event took place on April 6th. To me it is a typical "I apologize for being caught" apology.

Re: All things off season 2015.

Not a good look by Britt knowing that these days anyone with a rant like that that's recorded is gonna get put on blast. And especially a tv personality.

Disagree completely with the call for her to be fired over this

It is particularly bad in light of the fact that the teller specifically warned her that she was being recorded. Also, as someone else on twitter said, anytime you start a rant with the equivalent of "Do you know who I am?" it's not a good thing.

It's one of those "If I do something idiotic in my off work hours, should my employer hold it against me" moments. As with all things, it's never particularly clear cut.

When part of your employment is based on a "public persona," however, I would suggest you're employer will be very concerned about how your private persona affects that. McHenry is paid to look good on camera and, by that, I am not talking just about her physical appearance. ESPN pays her, in large part, to be knowledgeable, well-spoken and generally likable on camera. As such, while I agree that firing would have been pretty drastic, I also don't think it would be outrageous for an employer in ESPN's position to fire an on- air persona after such a rant. A large portion of their customer base probably fits within the demographic that Ms. McHenry dismisses so brutally. Quite frankly, I think she should consider herself incredibly fortunate to have been suspended for only a week. Further, if I was ESPN, I would demand a much better apology than the rough equivalent of "I am sorry I was mean but I was having a bad day."

I really don't know much about her as reporter. From what I have seen, she seemed to be a generally competent run of the mill on-air talent but lacking in any particularly great insights or analysis - in many ways, just another pretty face.

[From her tweets, I also got a strong impression that she suffers from a bad case PGD (Pretty Girl's Disease). Girls/Women with PGD are not necessarily stupid or mean, in fact, some are very smart and most are generally nice b/c the world is generally very nice to them - doors open magically, service is speedy, favors not even asked for are granted. They tweet about kindness and flowers and first world problems and are confused/hurt when the reality everyone else deals with hits them in the face.]

Bottom line, I am very disappointed in her. I thought we could have had something very special together. Now, I just don't know if it will ever work out between us. <sigh>

Regardless, what she said was just so out of bounds, I don't see how there's any way to defend what she said. In that situation be the better person, walk away and don't stoop to that level.
