Re: Ryan Clark

I wish him well, part of the game. I would have really liked to keep both him and Royal. While I'm not sure how much of an upgrade Furia was at the TE position, I know Aruchletta is one over Clark at the saftey. Best of luck to him though, maybe we'll see him in the big dance next year.

This is the quote from Gibbs.

"I told them that with the core group that we have here, our goal now would be to try to keep everybody together. That is my job and I started early this morning."

I think maybe the writer came up with the core of 15 and not Gibbs. If you think about it why would a coach name out 15 players making the others feel like outsiders who could be gone at anytime.

JERMUS22 don't give in until you read it for yourself.
It was Gibbs who came up with the "core of 15 players". It was his idea to use to deal with keeping team chemistry during free agency, not the reporters. Read the article again. The reporter did not pick the number 15 out of the sky.

Anyway, it would be nice to keep more guys together, and that is clearly a goal. I wish Clark would have stayed, but again, he was not one of the 15 and thus was allowed to leave. Also, I don't think that the coaches are going to talk out about who the 15 are. I think people agreed here:

Re: Ryan Clark

I know it is aarly still but I sure fell better if I knew what we were going to do about the LB spot we need to fill! The back up OL and a 3rd DB is also out there! But that LB spot be it Marshall staying inside or out is a big question. I really don't think that can be fill by a draft pick. It would be asking a lot for a young guy to get GW D that fast and started. But you never know.

some LBs are more interchangeable than others. If D'Qwell iss available and we go draft, he'd probably only be taken if the staff thought he could play OLB for at least the first year or two (if not forever).

Re: Ryan Clark

prioleau is the primary safety backup and spot corner too. omar will probably be back. springs can also play safety, though obviously that's not the best use with our current CB depth.

Re: Ryan Clark

AA is a much better safety than Clark. at matty pointed out, bigger , faster , and the guy likes busting people up. Clark was a liability in coverage. He could come up and lay some wood against the run, but was always a step or two late on coverage. I give a two thumbs up for the AA signing. Sorry Clark, maybe you can play along side another good safety in Troy P(not even going to try the last name)
