Yep. Cooley is the same as Gonzo. Gonzo is on the tail end of his prime and Cooley is just entering his.

Get all the yards you want, but TDs are where it counts. Also, playoff wins are where it counts. I won't deny that Brunell is HIGHLY ineffective when he's hurt, but Green couldn't hold Brunell's johnson when he's healthy.

And let's not even get started on the Portis and Holmes thing. It's ALMOST comparing apples to oranges because Holmes is like Gonzo, on his way out of his prime and Portis is just entering his. The jury is still out on that one, but you would have to come up with a pretty good argument to convince me that Holmes was/is better than Portis if Portis keeps up his current production.

You know what, I can't wait til the redskins play the giants. I believe that gibbs and company will be working overtime to avenge the only division loss last year. And honestly, I think the only reason you are talking sh*t ( or trying to anyway) is that you look at the skins offense and are more than a little worried because you see the same thing I see: an offense that was good enough last year to make and win in the playoffs, which got a whole lot better with wideout playmakers and offensive guru Saunders.

But don't worry, it will be all over soon enough (after the redskins wax the giants in both games).

Right. Giantone, I welcome any fan who wants to come here and have an informative discussion, but before you go spouting off at the mouth, put some facts behind it.

Just like anyone, I'll give credit where it's due and I'll readily admit the division is the Skins or Giants to lose. The Giants need more of a receiving threat and I think it'll take a season or two before Sinorice gets up to speed. Plaxico is alright, but he really does take plays off and whines like a little girl when the ball is thrown poorly. Eli will probably stay at the same production this year and Tiki will have another monster year.

Defense-wise, I think Arrington will make some big plays which will make you forget about the TRULY dumbass plays that he'll make most of the year. Pierce will be a monster again. Strahan is on the way out, another year older, another year slower, but he'll still be better then your average DE. Osi's year was a fluke I think due to the pressure put on by Strahan. I doubt he repeats again this year, but I still put them as the top DE duo in the division. The defensive line is still suspect and the CBs look to possibly have improved with the subtraction of Will Allen and signing of Sam Madison. For the Giants sake, I hope Madison isn't one of those old "Skins" signings where they signed a huge contract for a vet on the downslide (a la Bruce Smith).

Speaking purely objectively about the Redskins, the receiving corps as a whole instantly became better than any of them in the NFC East. Moss, second leading receiver in the league, Lloyd had comparatively big numbers for a TOTALLY shitty 49ers team. We all know about Randle El, and his numbers don't even speak to what he'll bring to the table because he played for a run-first team. Randle El instantly gives the Skins a dangerous return man and a trick play threat. Receiving-wise, I think the Giants are second behind the Skins with Shockey as a receiver and the Cowboys a VERY close third because we all know how good TO is (even though he has NO supporting cast). The Redskins offensive line will again be dominant in the running game, and basically the Skins will go as far as Brunell takes them. If he stays healthy, I can realistically see a 13-3 record or better. The defense has been elite the past two years and the Skins signed a number of playmakers on that side.

I think all of us have a little homer in them, but I try to keep the Haterade to a minimum. The NFC East WILL be the most competitive conference in the league without a doubt and one key injury here or there could put a team in the basement for good.

For a quick review:

Washington Redskins - Just to elaborate a little bit more on the team, the offensive line has two of the best tackles in the game, one of the best guards, an improved center and let's hope Dockery continues to improve. The defensive line is beast with Griffin in the middle. I have this feeling Montgomery will be in a heavy rotation by the middle of the year.

Philadelphia Eagles - They worry me the most. They had a great draft and got some really great players. They might not be great this year, but give that line some time to gel and they'll be good (but fortunately for the rest of the division McNabb has only a few years left in him). Brown will continue to improve and be a pretty decent player. Basically, the Eagles season will hinge on if Reid wants to be a dumbass or not. It's ALL coaching this year.

Dallas Cowboys - Time will only tell if the offensive line will return healthy from those serious injuries it had. Both running backs are average at best and TO is the only WR of any quality on the team. Witten will again be one of their most reliable receiving threats with TO being double teamed. Just like Strahan and McNabb, Bledsoe is another year older and another year slower. The Cowboys REALLY should have invested in a QB unless they think Henson has improved enough in NFL Europe. The defense will be above average next year, but nothing special. Their defense is the most overhyped part of their team.

I agree overall, a couple of key injuries may be the difference. Glenn is still pretty decent for the pokes, he'll burn us if ST bites, though if ST stays at home he can scare Glenn into some drops. If Dallas' O line can play like they did early last year, they'll be tough.
Philly still has a solid core roster, you just have to wonder what the real personality of the team is. Will last year's mess linger? or will McNabb & other vets take charge as the team's leaders & bring back their winning ways? Its tough to predict our division, but I wouldn't be surprised if the cellar team finishes 8-8.
