Yeah, I figured there was a good reason why he wasn't swallowed up by somebody at this point.

Still, he's got to be better than Joe Salave'a.

Re: My final argument for Drafting LaRon Landry

Although I have been an Okoye backer from way back, I would be more than fine with Landry. As has been pointed out, top safeties have been a pretty safe pick the last few years. Teaming Landry with Taylor would create also sorts of options for the coaching staff. While Landry is faster, Taylor is no slouch and I am fine with him in coverage and that would create a real guessing game for opposing offenses.

(The times ST blew coverages, it looked to me be a mental mistake that may have occurred b/c he was trying to do too much; I rarely saw him "beat" from a purely physical point of view. Perhaps with someone he trusts on the other side, ST would not need to think so much and just play.)

While a safety generally is not going to make up for lack of pressure, perhaps with two elite safeties, their can be greater use of the safety as an extra player at one level of the field (as an extra pass rusher, lb, or cb given the skill sets involved). Last year Baltimore used Adalius Thomas all over the field, I think ST is a more gifted athelete than Thomas and could be used in a similar manner AS LONG AS there is a good safety who has the final line of defense covered. Landry seems to be that kind of safety.

According to Mel Kiper, Landry's only glitch is pass coverage. Would that be enough to dissuade the love for Landry knowing we just got rid of a safety like that?

I'd find it hard to believe he could be as bad as AA.

Re: My final argument for Drafting LaRon Landry

Roy Williams cannot cover and doesn't hit like Taylor, so I hope to God that Landry is better than Roy Williams.

Saying that Landry is the next Ed Reed is a pretty bold statement since Reed is a guaranteed Hall of Famer. If you know who the next Hall of fame players are why aren't you working for ESPN or Danny?

This team does not need a safety. Isn't Landry basically in the mold of Taylor? Taylor had great cover skills in college. Having no defensive line has made him look like he can't cover a cold. What good is it to draft an inferior Sean Taylor when we have the real thing?

I agree with just about everything outside of Roy Williams' hitting ability, the guy can thump with the best of them. Three years ago I thought he killed Coles, I think that was when LC decided he didn't want to be a Skin anymore. It wasn't the short patterns, it was the short patterns in front of Roy Williams. ST produces the same fear factor, I'll take ST because once upon a time Taylor could actually cover.

As for LL, we draft him and maybe teams don't go deep with the success they did last year. But we still can't stop the run or pressure the passer, and if you give NFL qbs time they will find someone open.

It's gonna be interesting, that's for sure.

Re: My final argument for Drafting LaRon Landry

This speculation and rumor-mill junk is killing me. Please, could someone speed the draft up. If do not pick-up a top tier D-lineman in the draft, we can only hope for one in free agency. But I fear that we have missed the boat on that.

Re: My final argument for Drafting LaRon Landry

I like Landry also; not really impressed with any of the d-lineman in this years draft.

Need a compliment to Taylor so that he can play closer to the line of scrimmage and make plays without worrying about getting torched deep.
