Not a bad deal I suppose. He's old, but he can still hold it down for another couple of years.
CNNSI is reporting either a 2008 5th rounder or a 2009 4th rounder, presumably based on playing time, but they could very well be wrong. If that is the deal, barring injury, it would appear that the 2009 4th rounder would be the most likely outcome. By the way, Kendall apparently was signed through 2009 by the Jets (with base salaries of $2 million for 2008 and $2.393 million for 2009; ESPN.com). Anyone know how the Redskins dealt with the contract? Adam Schefter reports a 2-year contract (is that an extension, or was the old Jets contract just voided out?). Just curious, but all the details probably aren't out there yet. At this point, I like the move, probably the best option they had and a 4th rounder two years out doesn't seem so bad to me (at least in 2007 it doesn't).

Hopefully this allows Wade to go back to his natural position, because frankly Jansen looks like poop. We may need Wade to fill in for Jansen at some point.

Don't know if Wade can play on the left, but I imagine he can, if he was going to LG. But having him backup Jansen is crucial.

Re: KENDALL to the Redskins (confirmed)

This is a great short term signing by the Skins. Kendall will be able to fill the void at LG, Wade just couldn't get the job done, but who knows if Jansen struggles at RT Wade could jump in there right away. I now feel a hell of a lot more comfortable about the O-line depth. Samuels, Kendall, Rabach, Thomas, Jansen starting, and Wade, Pucillo, Heyer, and Fabini as capable backups. One thing that concerns me is how old our Line is, we're definitely going to need to get some youngblood in here after this season, but we still have this season to be excited about.

I agree, AND we still have a good number of high draft picks left for us to TAKE said linemen with.

Exactly, hopefully we keep those high draft picks to get someone. I wouldn't throw our 1st rounder on a lineman, but we can definitely find quality guys in the 2nd, and 3rd rounds.

I like the trade.

Just an observation: are the New York Jets officially our farm team, or is it still unofficial?

Great move FO. i hope this sures up the oline issues. Also I think you guys are right about getting rid of Marshal to clear room for Kendall, and also upgrading the position of LB with signing of Godfrey. Now that we seem pretty set on our roster, we should concentrate on getting cooley locked up for years to come. Hail!!

Re: KENDALL to the Redskins (confirmed)

Honestly, I'd use our first AND second on offensive line next year. If our defense can hold up this year and prove something. I would love to use our early picks on the best tackle (first round) and guard available. The Ravens got Ben Grubbs, arguably the best offensive linemen in the draft besides Thomas, in the late first round.

Yeah, I want to see how things work out this year, because I think we might be able to keep this line together for another year or two, but I have a feeling we are going to need our 1st round pick for a DE, because opposite Carter we have Daniels who is 34, and Wynn who is 32, and I don't think they're going to be in the league much longer. However youth at the O-line is very important.

For me, I feel like it's very rare when there's a "can't miss" DE. Mario Williams was supposed to be as "can't miss" as they come and he hasn't been anything but average. It always seems like it's the second and third round pick project DEs that seem to impress.

I agree DE's in the 1st round are usually hit or miss, but we are going to have to do something at the LDE spot wether it be in the draft, or FA.

Re: KENDALL to the Redskins (confirmed)

With this acquisition this has to give us the most depth on the offensive line in the NFL with Wade, Fabini, Tucker, all former starters, we are set for now on the o-line once Samuels returns.

Shameless self-promotion. It is what it is.

Apart from Wade I'd say those guys are on the bubble to even make the team. I like the move, but hardly thinks it gives the Skins the most O-Line depth in the league.
