Re: Our offense is Pathetic

This thread is pathetic. They made mistakes that they need to work. The offense is pretty good in my opinion. Campbell is the best qb that the redskins have had in a long ass time- since Brad Johnson. He made some mistakes that need to be corrected, but I okay with that because it seemed that he corrected some things from the giants game. The concern for me is the health of the offensive line and gibbs having the team prepared in critical situations. I am pro-gibbs, but at times he just doesn't seem to have thought through game situations. Like under 2:39 left in the game with 1 timeout. Call the timeout before or after the 2 minute warning ? And here's another - 4th and a long 1, should there be a call ready just for this situation ? or if a timeout is needed, should he challenge the spot of the ball - since you are calling a timeout anyways. The worse thing that would happen would be the ball being placed back. Best case: the ball being moved forward, which if i'm not mistaken would save a timeout. Another thing that they could have done was ask to bring out the chains for a measure. That would have given them enough time to think things through (and you can then challenge).

Our PPG average is not going to get it done. I know we're not goin to score 30+ per game like NE does (who does?) but we can't expect the defense to keep winning games for us either. Today's NFL requires 20+ PPG, if you can't acomplish that you're going to struggle to win games.

Drops can be worked on in practice, when you have a D lineman in at O line at the end of the game you better have reason to worry. We will probably not see Portis hit the centruy mark rushing this season now as a result of this and we will have to throw more often. I don't think Moss is even 90% healthy and with the crappy weather, it showed. We are a good team, just incredibly banged up right now, but with trips to NYC and Foxboro coming up we are in a load of hurt. Our O line might not make it back to Redskins park alive after the NE game.

First of all, this isn't meant as a joke - I've said I love JC win or lose and I still do and I always will. But... if I were his agent I would be looking for trade opportunities at this pt. This kid IMO is too good for the piss-poor execution/playcalling/coaching that surrounds him. Even in the most adverse conditions JC himself had a great game (what can you do when your receivers drop about a dozen catchable passes). Campbell is a guy who executes and keeps his head on even when the veterans (Moss, Portis, Lloyd) around him utterly collapse physically and mentally. As much as I want him to stay on to be the pillar of this offense I also want him to be able to have the kind of great success Brady and other QB's have when they're surrounded by professionals.

Re: Our offense is Pathetic

Campbell rushed his read on that 4th down, he had McCardell wide freaking open but he just rushed and dumped it to Betts. I'll chalk that up to his inexperience and not anything to do with bad coaching.

would you have disagreed with a sellers rush directly behind kendell?

I would have been very satisfied with that regardless of the outcome

**EDIT** I Thought you were talking about the games final play, not the 4th and 1.**

As far as the clock managment, I no way did that reflect yesterdays outcome...but thats still something I am getting tired of seeing from the Skins'. I wont even put it on the coaches, I will put this on the COaches, the Players, The Waterboys...anyone on that sideline who watches the game of football. If they want, I'll be their clock managment guy on Sundays for 10 bucks an hour...Its more common sense than anything, especially at the end of the game. I have no complaints with the coaching staff yesterday, but I just have a feeling this could be something that comes back to hurt us in the future, and has in the past....

He did rush his read because he is inexperienced and the coaches know he is inexperienced. Why not (after burning a timeout to think about what to do) call a play with a primary read that is past the 1st down marker? The coaches should have expected him to rush the read andif he did the team would have a 1st down and if he didnt they might have more than that.

I still think there are too many offensive cooks in the kitchen. The team either need to let Gibbs call the plays or Saunders call the plays but both is not working well.

How do you know Betts was the first read?

I don't like Aikman as one of the broadcasters/commentators in the booth for the redskins games. He just pretends to be unbaised, but if you notice - he will discretely say negative comments and critize the redskins (especially critical with Campbell's decisions), but say only good things about the opposition.

Campbell made the wrong read, he should have waited a split second longer, Smoot is lucky that he wasn't called for the force out - I never heard that before in my life: being lucky for not being called for a force out. Pay attention, it's like he subliminally injects these thoughts into your head. I wanted to put it on mute, but I like to hear the game.

Oh yeah, I like the criticism of Campbell's long passes being too flat. I don't know if I agree with him or not, but I don't want him making me think like a damn cowboy like that. Because that's also the first time I heard something like that too - a pass being too flat.

Well if he was perhaps it was Betts fault for not getting deep enough on his route.

Either way I don't think we have conclusive enough evidence to say it was a coaching blunder. Not when there was a wide open guy that JC flat out didn't see. The play was there, the execution was not.

Re: Our offense is Pathetic

Would everyone please stop whining. Man, your team lost 2 games, only one behind Dallas in the loss column. Your team lost to 2 winning teams with the combined record of 7-3 (maybe 8-3 after tonight) and all I see is a bunch of posts about how pathetic the offense is. You guys are too spoiled, imagine being a Saints, Dolphins, or Rams fans.

One thing I have noticed, the ones who whine alot are the ones with posts less than 200 or so. It is mostly guys who just joined and know little about football and think the season is over.

The knee jerk whining and "end of the world" talk is a bit out of line, but a lot of us have a legitimate beef. It's not so much that Washington has lost two games; it's the manner of the losses. The two losses were both games that should have been wins, and were basically given away. A few more first downs in the second half of the Giants game, and that a W. A few more catches yesterday, or one less fumble and that's a W.

And talk about spoiled... your quarterback did everything humanly possible to lose last Monday night, and since Buffalo can't be like the other 83% of the league and recover an onsides kick, the Cowboys eeked out an undeserved victory.

I personally can appreciate what the redskins have accomplished this season after going through last season. 2006 was a shitty year all the way around for the redskins - offense, defense, st, coaching, personnel decisions(that impacted the 2006 season).

What I want is to have the redskins get to the next level and stay there. And the only way to do this is - keep doing the things that work really well and keep correcting mistakes. The redskins are very close.
