Portis wasn't a huge blow as Betts came on nicely. The QB situation had Gibbs all over it as he refused to put JC in to salvage the season. Defense collapsed as it was on the field for most of the game due to a horrid passing attack due to MB starting as a result of Gibbs obstinance. |

Earlier, as in the first half when they were about to punt and we were trying to prevent them from running the clock down to two minutes? That was the right move at the time and Philly did not end up scoring. If they hadn't of called the To then, you'd be bitching about that. As to the last drive, TO's don't do any good when you can't get a first down so it was not a factor. It could have been but it wasn't. 2:30 is plenty of time to move down the field with or without TOs. Yes you would prefer to have them, but it had little impact on the game today.

well it could if its too early, like in the third. then forcing you to decide in the fourth how to deal with the remaining time with 2 time outs. or how about when we didnt have any timeouts to challenge the CAUGHT ball by mccardell i believe. i understand that had nothing to do with clock management, but the first part does. |

I do agree Gibbs either needs to step up or step down. I would rather see another coach in there having success than see Gibbs in there tarnishing his HOF record.

Re: Its time for joe to step down.
Calling the TO w/ 2:06 in the 1st half is Gibbs being aggressive. He was blasted earlier in the year for letting the clock run down to the 2 minute warning when they were going to try hurry up offense. It retrospect it did help Philly because we went 3 and out but if Lloyd makes the catch or we convert the 3rd down it would have been nice to have time to try to score before half. Can't have it both ways. Play aggressive and run the risk of giving them the ball back with time or kill the last 2 minutes and have no shot at points before the half.

Anyways, why are you even arguing about last season? It's a moot point. Besides, I could argue the season before that.

Re: Its time for joe to step down.
im not complaining, i was just trying to point out how using timeouts early could effect clock management towards the end of a game

Re: Its time for joe to step down.
I agree. Campbell seems to get into a better rhythm when he's in hurry up mode. I'm hoping this is something the offense will start doing more of, because it seemed to wear the Eagles defense down and opened up our running game as well.

Injuries are an excuse. The O-line manned up today and runs to the right side of the line was working just fine with Fabini and Wade playing. What about Thrash playing a gem of a game with Moss out? No injury excuses for blowing this one. We put ourselves in a positon to win and self destructed - not because of injury, but because of dumb penalties, poor execution, and bad playcalls in the 4th quarter. |

To ignore injuries to Washington, Taylor, Rogers, Moss, Jansen, Thomas (3 of whom are Pro Bowlers) is a little unreasonable IMO. |

I'm personally thrilled that we are currently 5-4, btw. However, when Gibbs 2.0 leaves after 3 pi$$ poor seasons and one playoff appearance, what will your assessment be? Aw, he was unlucky cuz our star players kept getting injured season after season? Gibbs came here to restore us to respectability and get us back to winning. If we don't make the playoffs this year, he will have failed and shouldn't be allowed to use injuries as an excuse. |
