Re: May the Schwartz be with you?
My bet is GW as head coach, Schwartz as assistant HC - defense.

Re: May the Schwartz be with you?
See my questions above posed to SS. It's not making sense to me.

Assistant Head Coach - Defense makes sense to me.

Re: May the Schwartz be with you?
The more I think about this, the more Assistant Head Coach - defense makes sense. This move could mean something for Greg Blache more than anything else.

I think JLC said the other day that might be the case. |

This is just speculation but I really think Danny Smith might make his way on to the defensive coaching staff somehow. What you might see is Smith coaching the DBs, Jerry Gray bumped up to defensive coordinator and Schwartz as Assistant HC-Defense

Right now I wish I was a fly on the wall in Redskins Park. There must be so much going on.

Re: May the Schwartz be with you?
I know there was a bit of apprehension on GW's part when Saunders was first brought in. He felt that the offense was too "quick strike". He was concerned that his D would have to be on the field too much during a game because the offense would either turn the ball over quickly, or score quickly.

Re: May the Schwartz be with you?
UGH! I don't effin know! On one hand, why would Jeff Fisher let Schwartz interview for essentially a lateral move? On the other hand, why would Danny bust up the whole coaching staff by making Schwartz HC after saying continuity was important to him?
The ultimate continuity move is make Schwartz DC, and move GW to head coach. But then why the interest in Bill Cowher? Maybe Bill Cowher was Plan A, and since he's not interested, GW with Schwartz and Saunders is Plan B? Maybe the Cowher thing was bad rumor? DAMMIT JUST PUT US OUT OF OUR MISERY, DANNY! I seriously need to know who our coach is. I'm freakin out over here man!

a) Bill Cowher would have been introduced today as our head coach at a salary of like 12 mil a year or b) everyone would know that Cowher turned down Snyders offer of 12 mil a year because he didn't want the job. Snyder does this. He makes it happen and he makes it happen now when he wants something. The only thing stopping him now is the Rooney Rule. I honestly think this looks like they are trying to appear like they are taking this "process" seriously. Why in the hell would Snyder ever in a million years hire a basically unknown guy who is a disciple of an heir apparent he already has? Snyder doesn't do that. He makes sexy signings not understated signings. That aint his bag baby. |

You might be right on getting too caught up with the "source" reporting at this stage. JLC is right in saying that the players and fans would erupt in hysterics if GW isn't even given a chance to interview. I was in no way suggesting the interview process is going to exclude GW. I was merely saying that people who think Schwartz is here as a candidate to become our DC are off-base. He was here as a legit candidate for head coach.

Re: May the Schwartz be with you?
I think much of this we're doing is speculation. Fact is, someone was going to be interviewed regardless. Whether it was Joe Schmoe, Joe Black, or Joe Blow....they have to go through this process. Gregg Williams understands it, everyone understands it.
They can't offer the job to Williams then interview people next. It's the process, so we're just going to have to sit and wait and not read too much into whomever they bring in. Unless it's a Bill Cowher, Peter Caroll, or some big name person, I wouldn't get too worked up over any of these names. Hell during the combine, the Redskins interviewed Adrian Peterson for a draft possibility. It is what is. |
